Leviticus 25

God speak to Moses on top Mount Sinai and command him

make he give people of Israel the rules wey follow. When una enter the land wey God don give una, una go dey farm the land every seven year to honor God.

Make una sow for una field, plant una vineyard, and gather una crops for six years.

But make una give the land complete rest for seventh year, na year wey una go dedicate to God. Make una no sow una field or plant una vineyard.

Make una no harvest the corn wey grow for there, wey una no sow, and no gather the grapes from the vine wey una no plant; na complete year of rest e be for the land.

Though una no cultivate the land for that year, e go still provide food for una, una slave, una hired men, the foreigners wey dey live wit una,

una house animals, and the wild animals for una field. Una fit eat everything wey the land produce.

Make una count the seven year seven times, a total of 49 years.

Then, for tenth day of seventh month, the Day of Atonement, send someone to go blow trumpet all through the country.

You go make the 50th year a special year, you go announce freedom for everyone wey dey live for your country. Una go call this time ‘Jubilee.’ Each of una go come go back to una property. And each of una go come go back to una own family.

The 50th year go be special celebration for una. Make una no plant seed, no harvest crops wey grow on their own, and make una no gather grapes from vine wey una no trim.

That year na Jubilee. E go be holy time for una. Una go eat the crops wey come from the field.

For year of Jubilee, una go go back to una property.

No cheat una neighbor when una sell una land to them. No dey cheat each other when una dey buy or sell land.

If una wan buy una neighbor land, make una count number of years from last Jubilee, and use that number to decide the price wey dey right. Na only rights to dey harvest crop until next Jubilee una dey buy.

If plenty years still dey before next Jubilee, the price go high. If the years no plenty, the price go dey lower, because wetin dem dey sell na the number of crops the land fit produce.

No cheat a fellow-Israelite, but obey una God.

Dey remember my laws and rules. Obey them and you go live in safety for the land.

The land go produce crops, and una go get all una wan eat and una go live in safety.

But someone fit ask wetin dem go dey eat for seventh year, when dem no plant any seed and dem no gather any crop.

God go bless the land for sixth year so that e go produce plenty food wey go reach for two years.

When una start to dey plant una field for the eight year, una go still dey eat wetin una don harvest for sixth year, and una go get enough to dey eat until una begin to dey harvest the crop wey una plant that year.

Make una no sell una land on permanent basis, because no be una get am; na God get am, and una be like foreigners wey God allow to dey make use of am.

People fit sell their land, but their family go get the land back.

If someone for una country don become very poor, and he wan sell him land, make him close relative buy am back.

Anyone wey no get relative to buy am back fit get enough money later and buy am back.

For that case, make he pay the man wey buy am the amount wey go cover up for the years wey remain until next year of Jubilee, when he wan recover him land.

But if he no get enough money to buy the land back, e go dey under the control of the man wey buy am until next year of Jubilee. For that year, he go return am to the original owner.

If someone sell a house wey dey for wall city, he get right to buy am back during the first full year from the date wey he sell am.

But if he no buy am back within a year, he don lose right to buy am back, and the house go become permanent property of the buyer and him descendants; he no go return am in the Year of Jubilee.

But make una treat houses wey dey for villages wey no get wall like fields; the original owner get right to buy them back, and make dem return them back in the Year of Jubilee.

But Levites fit buy back their property any time, for their own city.

If a Levite no buy back a house wey him sell in one of their cities, make dem return am back in the Year of Jubilee, because the house wey be Levite own for their city na their permanent property among people of Israel.

But make una no sell the pasture land wey round the Levite cities; na their property forever.

If a fellow-Israelite wey dey live near you become poor and no fit support himself or herself, you must provide support for them as you go do for servants wey you hire.

No charge them any interest, but obey God and allow make your fellow-Israelite live near you.

No make them pay interest on top the money wey you borrow them, and no make profit on the food wey you sell to them.

This na command of the LORD una God, wey bring una out of Egypt so that he go give una Canaan land and to be una God.

If a fellow-Israelite wey dey live near you become poor so tey he sell himself as slave to you, you no go make him do work of a slave.

he go stay with you as a hired servant and serve you till next Year of Jubilee.

At that time, him and him children go leave you and go back to him family and property of him ancestor.

People of Israel na God slave, and he bring them commot for Egypt; make una no sell them to slavery.

No dey treat them harshly, but dey obey una God.

If una need slave, una fit buy them from country wey near una.

Una also fit buy children of foreigner wey dey live among una. That kind children wey dem born for una land fit become una property,

and una fit leave them as inheritance for una sons, wey dem must serve as long as dem dey alive. But make una no treat una fellow-Israelite harshly.

Suppose say a foreigner wey dey live with una become rich, and a fellow-Israelite become poor and sell himself as slave to that foreigner or to him family member.

After he don sell himself, he still get right for somebody to buy am back. One of him brother

or him uncle or him cousin or any of him close relative fit buy him back; or if he don get enough money by himself, he fit buy him own freedom.

He go meet the one wey buy him, and dem go count the years from the time wey he sell himself till next Year of Jubilee, and set price for him release, base on wages wey dem dey pay hired servants.

-

Make he refund part of the price wey he buy him according to number of years wey remain,

like say he don hire him on per year basis. Make him master no treat him harshly.

If he no get freedom in any of these ways, make una set him and him children free for next Year of Jubilee.

Israelite no fit be permanent slave, because people of Israel na God slave. He bring them commot for Egypt; na him be the LORD their God.
