Jeremiah 11

¹ God tell me say,

² Make you listen to the term of this covenant. Make you tell people of Judah and Jerusalem say,

³ I, the LORD God of Israel, don place curse on anyone wey no obey the terms of this covenant.

⁴ Na the covenant wey I make with their ancestor when I bring them commot for Egypt, the land wey be like fire for them. I tell them say make dem obey me and do everything wey I command. I tell them say if dem obey, dem go be my people and I go be their God.

⁵ Then I go keep the promise wey I make with their ancestor say I go give them rich and fertile land wey dem get now.” I talk say, “Yes, God.”

⁶ Then God tell me say, “Go city of Judah and go street of Jerusalem. Tell my message for there and tell the people say make dem listen to term of the covenant and make dem obey them.

⁷ When I bring their ancestor commot for Egypt, I warn them make dem obey me, and I don dey warn the people till today.

⁸ But dem no listen or obey me. Instead, everybody continue to dey do strong head and dey do evil. I don command them make dem keep the covenant, but dem no gree. Naso I bring all the punishment wey dey inside the terms on top them.”

⁹ Then God tell me say, “People of Judah and Jerusalem dey plan against me.

¹⁰ Dem don go back to sin of their ancestor, wey no gree do wetin I talk; dem don worship other gods. Israel and Judah don break the covenant wey I make with their ancestor.

¹¹ So now, I, the LORD, warn them say I go bring destruction on top them, and dem no go fit escape. And when dem cry to me for help, I no go listen to them.

¹² Then people of Judah and Jerusalem go con go to god wey dem offer sacrifice and dem go cry out to them for help. When this destruction come, those gods no go fit save them.

¹³ The people of Judah get plenty gods as dem get cities, and people of Jerusalem don set up plenty altars for sacrifice give that useless god Baal as dem get street for city.

¹⁴ Jeremiah, no pray to me or beg me because of this people. When dem dey for trouble and call me for help, I no go listen to them.”

¹⁵ God talk say, “The people wey I love dey do evil things. Which kind right dem get to dey for my Temple? Shey dem think say if dem offer animal sacrifice dem fit escape disaster? Shey that go make them happy?

¹⁶ I don call them olive tree wey get leaf before, wey get beautiful fruit; but now, I go set hin leaf on fire with noise like thunder and I go break hin branches.

¹⁷ “I, the LORD Almighty, plant Israel and Judah; but I dey threaten them with disaster. Dem don bring this on top themselves because dem don do wrong; dem don make me vex as dem offer sacrifice for Baal.”

¹⁸ God tell me about the plan wey my enemies dey make against me.

¹⁹ I be like lamb with trust wey dem take out to kill, and I no know say na against me dem dey plan evil things. Dem dey talk say, “Make we cut down the tree when e still dey healthy, make we kill him so that nobody go remember him again.”

²⁰ Then I pray say, “Almighty God, na you be judge wey no dey lie; you dey test wetin people dey think and feel. I don put my case for your hand; so make I watch as you go take revenge on these people.”

²¹ The people of Anathoth wan kill me, and dem tell me say dem go kill me if I continue dey talk message of God.

²² Naso Almighty God talk say, “I go punish them! Their young men go die for war; na hunger go kill their children.

²³ I don set time to bring disaster on top people of Anathoth, and when the time reach, none of them go survive.”
