Isaiah 58

¹ God talk say, “Make una shout loud as una fit shout! Make una tell my people Israel about their sin!

³ The people ask say, “Why we go dey fast if God no dey notice? Why we no go chop if he no pay attention?” God tell them say, “The truth be say at the same time wey una dey fast, una dey pursue una own interest and oppress una workers.

⁴ Una fasting make una dey violent, and una quarrel and fight. Shey una think say this king fasting go make me listen to una prayers?

⁵ When una fast, una make unaselves suffer; una bow down una head like blade of grass, and spread out sackclothes and ashes to lie down on top. na wetin una dey call fasting be that? Shey una think say I go dey happy with una?

⁶ “Na the kind fasting wey I want be this: make una remove chain of oppression and yoke of injustice, and allow oppress people go free.

⁷ Make una share una food with hungry people and open una home to the poor wey no get home. Make una give clothes to those wey no get nothing to wear, and make una no refuse to help una own relatives.

⁸ “Then my favour go shine on top na like morning sun, and una wound go heal quickly. I go always dey with una to save una; my presence go protect una on everyside.

⁹ When una pray, I go answer una. When una call me, I go answer. “If una end oppression, end disrespect, and end every evil word;

¹ If una give food to the hungry and satisfy those wey dey in need, then the darkness around una go turn to brightness of afternoon.

¹ God talk say, “If na treat sabbath holy and una no pursue una own interest that day; if una respect my holy day and honour am not to dey travel, work, or talk witout reason on that day,

¹ Then una go see the joy wey dey come from serving me. I go make people all over the world honour una, and una go enjoy the land wey I give una ancestor, Jacob. I, the LORD, don talk.”
