Numbers 18

¹ God tell Aaron say, "You, your sons, and the Levites must suffer consequence of any guilt wey dey connected with serving for Tent of my presence; but na only you and your sons go dey responsible for wetin the priest do.

² Bring your relatives make dem dey here to dey help you for your services for Tent.

³ Make sure say dem perform their duties. But if dem go near any of the holy objects or near the altar, all of una go die.

⁴ Make no one else dey take care of the Holy Tent or do anything wey dey connected with am.

⁵ Make una follow these instructions, so that I no go vex and punish Israelites ever again.

⁶ Na me choose the Levites from other tribes say make dem belong to me, and I don give them to you, make dem dey help you.

⁷ But na only you and your son fit serve as priest for altar and for Most Holy Place. Una work as priest na gift from me, and make una kill anyone else wey try do that work.

⁹ God tell Aaron say, “I don put you in charge of holy gift and sacrifice wey Israelites bring to me. And from now on, you, your sons, and your descendants go receive part of the sacrifice for sin, grain offering, and part of sacrifice to make things right. Una share of these sacrifices go be the parts wey una no burn on top altar.

¹⁰ Since these things dey holy, make una dey eat them near Holy Tent, but na only men go dey eat them.

¹¹ Una go also receive part of the special gift and offering wey Israelites go bring to me. Any member of una family wey dey clean for worship fit eat these things.

¹² For example, when Israelites bring first batch of oil, wine, and grain, una fit take best parts of those gifts.

¹³ And the first part of crops from their field and vineyards na una own. The people go offer this to me, then anyone wey dey clean for una family fit take some of am.

¹⁴ Everything wey dem don dedicate to me for Israel completely go now belong to you.

¹⁵ The firstborn son for every Israelite family, and the firstborn male of their animals, na me get them. But make dem buy back every firstborn son and firstborn donkey.

¹⁶ The price for firstborn son wey be at least one-month-old go be five pieces of silver, make una weigh am according to official standards.

¹⁷ But all firstborn cattle, sheep, and goats na my own, and una no fit buy them back. Splash their blood on top altar and burn their fat on top altar, so that I fit smell am and be pleased.

¹⁸ Una fit eat the meat of those animals, just as una fit eat the ribs and right back leg of special sacrifices.

¹⁹ From now on, the Holy offering wey the Israelites give to me go belong to you, your sons, and your daughters. Na my promise to you and your descendants be this, and e no go change.

²¹ God tell Aaron say, ten percent of the Israelites crops and one out of every ten of their newborn animals na my own. But I dey give all of am to the Levites as payment for the work wey dem dey do for Holy Tent.

²³ Dem be the only ones wey fit work for the Tent, and make dem no allow anyone else come near am. Make una kill anyone wey come near am, and the Levites go also get punishment. This law no go ever change. Since Levites no go get land of their own for Israel,

²⁴ make una give them the crops and newborn animals wey Israelites offer to me.

²⁵ God tell Moses

²⁶ make he tell Levites say, “When una receive ten percent of crops and newborn animals from Israelites, make una offer one-tenth on them to me.

²⁷ Just as Israelites give me part of their grain and wine, make una set aside part of wetin una receive

²⁸ as offering to me. Make una give am to Aaron,

²⁹ so the best of wetin una receive go be my own.

³⁰ After you don dedicate the best part to me, you fit eat the rest, just as Israelites dey eat part of their grain and wine after dem don offer am to me.

³¹ Anyone for your family fit eat your own share, because na your payment for work wey you dey do for Holy Tent.

³² You no get any punishment if you eat am, as long as you don already offer the best part of am to me. The gift and sacrifice wey the people bring to me go remain holy, and if you eat any part of them before you offer them to me, you go die.
