² “Make you Aaron count people of Israel by tribe and family. Make una list the names of the men

³ wey don reach twenty years and older and wey don dey fit for military work.

⁴ Ask one chief from each tribe make dem help una.

⁵ Na names of the men wey go stand with una and help una be these: from Reuben tribe – Elizur son of Shedeur;

⁶ from Simeon tribe – Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;

⁷ from Judah tribe – Nahshon son of Amminadab;

⁸ from Issachar tribe – Nethanel son of Zuar:

⁹ from Zebulun tribe – Eliab son of Helon;

¹⁰ from descendants of Joseph: from Ephraim tribe – Elishama son of Ammihud; from Manasseh tribe – Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;

¹¹ from Benjamin tribe – Abidan son of Gideoni;

¹² from Dan tribe – Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;

¹³ from Asher tribe – Pagiel son of Ochran;

¹⁴ from Gad tribe – Eliasaph son of Deuel;

¹⁵ from Naphtali tribe – Ahira son of Enan.”

¹⁶ All these men, na leaders of their families dem be. The people also choose them make dem leaders of their tribes.

¹⁷ Moses and Aaron take the men wey dem don choose to be leaders

¹⁸ and dem call all Israelites together on the first day of second month. Naso dem list the people by their families and their family groups. Dem list names of all the men wey don reach 20 years old and the ones wey don dey old pass 20 years.

Na the total be these: Reuben tribe get 46,500 men; Simeon tribe get 59,300 men; Gad tribe get 45,650 men; Judah tribe get 74,600 men; Issachar tribe get 54,400 men; Zebulun tribe get 57,400 men; Ephraim tribe get 40,500 men; Manasseh tribe get 32,200 men; Benjamin tribe get 35,400 men; Dan tribe get 62,700 men; Asher tribe get 41,500 men; Naphtali tribe get 53,400 men. And the total number of men wey dem count na 603,550 in all.

⁴⁷ Dem no count the Levi tribe with other tribes,

⁴⁸ because God don tell Moses say,

⁴⁹ “When una dey count the men for military, make una no include Levi tribe.

⁵⁰ Make you put the Levi in charge of the Tabernacle Tent and the Tabernacle equipment. Dem go carry am and the equipment, work inside am, and build their camp round am.

⁵¹ Anytime una move una camp, the Levites go take the Tent down and set am up again for each place una dey camp. Anyone else wey near the Tent go die.

⁵² The remaining Israelites go set up camp, company by company, each man with him own group and under him own banner.

⁵³ But the Levites go camp round the Tent and guard am, so that nobody fit near am and allow my anger strike Israel community.”
