Judges 13

¹ The Israelites don sin against God again, and he don allow the Philistines rule them for forty years.

² E get a man wey him name na Manoah at that time wey come from the town of Zorah. Na member of Dan tribe he be. Him wife never born pikin.

³ The angel of God con appear to him and talk say, “You never get pikin, but you go soon get belle and get a son.

⁴ Make you dey careful not to drink any wine or beer, or chop any unclean food;

⁵ And after you don born your son, make you no cut him hair, because he go be dedicated to God as Nazirite from the day you born am. He go start the work to dey rescue Israel from the Philistines.”

⁶ The woman con go tell her husband say, “A man of God don come to me, and he dey look like angel of God. I no ask him where him come from, and he no tell me him name.

⁷ But he tell me say I go get belle and I go get a son. He tell me say make I no drink any wine or beer, or chop any unclean food, because the boy go be dedicated to God as a Nazirite as long as he dey live.

⁸ Then Manoah pray to God say, “Abeg God, let the man of God wey you send come back to us and tell us wetin we suppose do with the pikin when we don born am.

⁹ God do wetin Manoah don ask, and him angel come back to the woman as she dey siddon for field. Her husband Manoah no dey with her,

¹⁰ Naso she run at once and tell him say, “Look! The man wey come to me the other day don come appear to me again.”

¹¹ Manoah stand up and follow him wife. He go meet the man and ask say, “Shey na you be the man wey dey talk to my wife?” He answer say, “Yes.”

¹² Then Manoah ask say, “When your word don come true, wetin make the pikin do? Wetin be the kind life wey the boy go dey live?”

¹³ The angel answer say, “Make your wife dey sure say she do everything wey I don tell her.

¹⁴ Make she no chop anything wey come from grapevine; make she no drink wine or beer or chop any food wey no clean. Make she do everything wey I don tell her.”

¹⁵ Manoah no know say na the Angel of God, naso he tell him say, “Abeg never go yet. Make we cook a young goat for you.”

¹⁶ But the angel talk say, “If I stay, I no go chop una food. But if you wan prepare am, make you burn am as offering to God.”

¹⁷ Manoah reply say, “Tell us your name, so that we fit honor you when your word don come true.”

¹⁸ The angel ask say, “Why you wan know my name? Na name of wonder e be.”

¹⁹ Naso Manoah take a young goat and some grain, and offer them on top the rock altar to God wey work wonders.”

²⁰ As the flame dey go up from the altar, Manoah and him wife see angel of God dey go up to heaven inside the fire.

²¹ Manoah con know say the man na angel of God, and him and him wife put their face for ground. Dem never see the angel again!”

²² Manoah tell him wife say, E sure say we go die, because we don see God!”

²³ But him wife answer say, “If God wan kill us, he for no accept our offerings; he for no show us all this or tell us this kind things now.”

²⁴ The woman con born a son and dem name him Samson. The pikin dey grow and God bless him.

²⁵ And the power of God start to dey give him strength when he dey between Zorah and Eshtaol for Camp of Dan.
