Joshua 6

¹ People of Jericho don lock their town wall gates because dem dey fear Israelites. Nobody fit go out or come in.

² God tell Joshua say, “You and your army go defeat Jericho king and him army with my help, and una go capture the town.

³ Na how una go do am be this: Make una march slow round Jericho one time per day for six days.

⁴ Make una carry the Covenant Box with una and tell seven priests make dem dey waka for front of am, and carry trumpets. But on seventh day, make una march slow round the town seven times as the priests dey blow their trumpets.

⁵ Then the priest go blast their trumpet, and everybody go shout loud. The wall go fall down, and una soldiers fit enter from every corner.

⁶ Joshua gather the priests together and say, “Make una carry the Covenant Box and make seven of una carry trumpets and march for front of the Box.

⁷ He con give the army their command say: “Make una march slow round Jericho. Make few of una dey march for front of the Covenant Box to guard am, but make others follow am.

⁸ So, as Joshua don command, one part of the army dey for front of the priests wey dey blow trumpets;

⁹ the priests wey dey carry Covenant Box dey their back, and another guard follow them. For all this time, dem dey blow the trumpets.

¹⁰ But Joshua don order the people make dem no shout and make dem no say a word until he give them order.

¹¹ Naso he tell this group of men make dem carry God Covenant Box round the city one time. Then, dem come back to camp and dem spend night for there.

¹² Joshua wake up early next morning, and for second time, the priests and soldiers waka round the city for same way dem do the day before.

¹³ One group of soldiers dey for front, the seven priests wey carry trumpet and the priests wey carry Covenant Box follow them. Na the remaining soldiers follow them for back.

¹⁴ The seven priests dey blow their trumpets as everybody dey march slow round Jericho and go back camp. Naso dem do one time per day for six days.

¹⁵ On the seventh day, dem get up for morning and dem march seven times round the city the same way – na the only day wey dem waka round seven times be that.

¹⁶ The seventh round, when the priests wan blow the trumpets, Joshua order the people make dem shout, and he say, “God don give una the city!

¹⁷ Make una destroy the city and everything inside am as offering to God. But make una no harm the prostitute Rahab and her husband, because she hide our spies.

¹⁸ But make una no take anything wey una suppose destroy; if una do so, una go bring trouble and destruction on top Israelites.

¹⁹ Make una separate everything wey dem make with silver, gold, bronze, or iron for God. Make una put am for where una dey keep God treasure.

²⁰ Naso the priests blow their trumpets. As the people hear am, dem shout loud, and the walls fall down. Then the army enter the hill and dem enter the city and capture am.

²¹ Dem use their sword kill everybody in the city, men and women, young and old. Dem also kill cattle, sheep, and donkeys.

²² Joshua con tell two men wey don serve as spies say, “Make una go to the prostitute house and bring her and her family out, as una don promise her.”

²³ Naso dem go bring Rahab come out, with her papa and mama, her brothers, and rest of the family. Dem take all of them, family and slave, go safety place near Israelite camp.

²⁴ Dem set the city on fire and burn am to ground, with everything wey dey inside am, except the things wey dem make with gold, silver, bronze, or iron, wey dem take and make dem put am for God treasury.

²⁵ But Joshua no kill the prostitute Rahab and all her family, because she don hide the two spies wey him send go Jericho. (her descendants don live for Israel till this day.)

²⁶ After dem don destroy Jericho, Joshua warn the people say, “Anyone wey try rebuild Jericho city go dey under God curse. Anyone wey try lay the foundation go lose him son wey old pass; Anyone wey build the gates go lose him son wey young pass.”

²⁷ So, God dey with Joshua and him fame dey spread all through the world.
