Joshua 23

¹ After some time, God give Israel peace from their enemies wey dey around them. By that time Joshua don old,

² naso he call all Israel, the elders, leaders, judges, and officers of the people, and tell them say, “I don become very old now.

³ Una don see everything wey the LORD una God do all nations because of una, the LORD una God don dey fight for una.

⁴ I don share the land wey remain and all the nations wey I don defeat give una tribes as una own, from River Jordan for east take reach Mediterranean Sea for west.

⁵ The LORD una God go make them run away from una, and he go drive them away as una dey move go front. Una go take their land, as the LORD una God don promise una.

⁶ So make una dey careful to obey and do everything wey dey the book of the Law of Moses. Make una no abandon any part of am,

⁷ and una no go join unaself with these people wey remain with una or speak the names of their gods or use those names dey take vows or worship those gods or bow down to them.

⁸ Instead, make una dey faithful to God, as una don dey do till now.

⁹ God don drive out great and powerful nations as una dey move come front and nobody don ever try stand against una.

¹⁰ Anyone of una fit make one thousand men run away, because the LORD una God dey fight for una, just as he don promise.

¹¹ Make una dey careful to love the LORD una God.

¹² If una no dey loyal and go join the nations wey still remain among una and marry them,

¹³ una fit dey sure say the LORD una God no go drive away these nations as una dey advance go front. Instead, dem go become dangerous for una like trap or pit and dem go dey painful like whip for una back or thorn for una eyes. And this go last until none of una remain for this good land wey the LORD una God don give una.

¹⁴ Now e don reach time for me to die. Everyone of una know for him heart and soul say the LORD una God don give una all the good things wey he don promise. E don keep all the promise wey he make; he no fail any of am.

¹⁵ But just as he don keep every promise wey he make to una, naso he go carry out him threat.

¹⁶ If una no keep the covenant wey the LORD una God command una to keep and if una serve and worship other gods, then he go use vex punish una, and soon none of una go remain for this good land wey he don give una.”
