Jeremiah 19

¹ God tell me make I go buy clay jar. He also tell me make I take some elders of the people and some older priest,

² And go out through Potsherd Gate to Valley of Hinnon. Na there I go announce the message wey he don give me

³ God tell me make I talk say, “King of Judah and people of Jerusalem, make una hear wetin I, the LORD Almighty, God of Israel, wan talk. I go bring one kind disaster on top this place wey be say everybody wey hear am go shock.

⁴ I go do am because the people don abandon me and don make this place unclean as dem dey offer sacrifice to other gods for here - gods wey them or their ancestor no know anything about. Na blood of innocent people dem use fill this place,

⁵ And dem don build altar for Baal so that dem fit burn their children as sacrifice for fire. I no command them make dem do this; e never come my mind before.

⁶ So, the time go come when dem no go call this place Topheth or Valley of Hinnon again. Instead, dem go know am as the Valley of Slaughter.

⁷ I go spoil all plan of the people of Judah and Jerusalem for this place. I go make their enemy defeat them and dem go kill them for battle. I go give their dead body to bird and wild animal as food.

⁸ I go bring that kind terrible destruction on top this city wey be say e go make everybody wey pass shock and shake.

⁹ Enemy go surround the city and try to kill hin people. The attack go dey terrible so tey people wey dey for inside go start to dey chop themselves and dem go even chop their own children.”

¹⁰ Then God tell me say make I break the pot for front of those wey don go with me

¹¹ And to tell them say, Almighty God don say, “I go break this people and this city, and e go be like clay pot wey don break wey no fit come together again. People go even bury their dead for Topheth because place no dey again to bury them.

¹² I promise say I go make this city and people wey dey live for there be like Topheth.

¹³ The house of Jerusalem, house of king of Judah, and all houses where dem burn incense for the stars on top of the roof and where dem don pour out wine as offering give other god-all of them go be unclean like Topheth.”

¹⁴ Then I commot for Topheth, where God don send me make I tell him message. I go stand for court of the Temple and tell all the people say,

¹⁵ The LORD Almighty, God of Israel, don talk say, “I go bring the punishment wey I don talk say I go bring on top this city and town wey dey nearby, because una stubborn and una no gree listen to wetin I dey talk.”
