Isaiah 47

¹ God talk say, “Babylon, make you come down from your throne, and sit inside dust on top ground. You be like virgin before, city wey dem nobody defeat, but you no dey soft and fragile again! You don become slave!

² Turn the millstone! grind the flour! Remove your veil! remove your fine clothes! lift your skirt make you cross the streams!

³ People go see you naked; dem go see your humble and shame. I go take revenge and no one go stop me.”

⁴ Na the holy God of Israel set us free- him name na the LORD Almighty.

⁵ God tell Babylon say, “Make you sit for silence and darkness; dem no go call you queen of the nations again!

⁶ I been dey vex with my people before; I treat them like say dem no be my own again: I con put them in your power, and you no show dem mercy; you even treat the ones wey old bad pass.

⁷ You think say you go always be queen, and you no take these things to heart or think say all go end.

⁸ “hear this, you wey love pleasure, you wey think say you dey safe and secure. You talk say you dey great like God- say no one be like you. You think say you no go ever be a widow or suffer the loss of your children.

⁹ But for a moment, for single day, these two things go happen. With all the charm wey you use, you go lose your husband and children.

¹⁰ “You dey sure of yourself in your evil; you think say no one fit see you. Na your wisdom and knowledge mislead you, and you tell yourself say, ‘I be God- no one else be like me.’

¹¹ Trouble go come upon you, and none of your magic fit stop am. destruction go come upon you suddenly- destruction wey you never dream about!

¹² Make you keep all your magic spell and charms; you don use them since yo dey young. Maybe dem go be of help to you; maybe you fit scare your enemy.

¹³ You no get power on top all the advice wey you get. Make your astrologers come forward make them con save you- those people wey study stars, wey map out zone of heavens and dey tell you wetin go happen to you from month to month .

¹⁴ “Dem go be like straw, and dem go catch fire! Dem no go even fit save themselves- the flame go dey too hot for them, no be pleasant fire wey dem fit use warm themselves.

¹⁵ Na all the good wey dem go do be that- those astrologers wey you don use all your life consult. All of them go leave you and dem go con go their own way, and nobody go dey wey go save you.”
