Hosea 7

¹ "Anytime I wan heal my people, Israel, and wan make them prosper again, na only their wickedness I dey see and the evil wey dem dey do. Dem dey cheat one another, dem dey break into houses and steal; dem dey rob people people for street.

² E never enter their head say I go remember all this evil; but their sin surround them, and I no fit do make I no see them."

³ God talk say, people deceive king and him officers by their evil plots.

⁴ All of them no dey loyal and dangerous. Their hatred rise like fire for oven, wey the baker never stir until he don ready to bake the dough.

⁵ On the day wey king dey celebrate, dem make the king and him officer drunk and foolish with wine.

⁶ Yes dem burn like oven with their plot. Their anger dey rise all night and turn fire in the morning.

⁷ "Den murder their rulers with the heat of their anger. Dem dey kill their kings one after the other, but no one pray to me for help."

⁸ God talk say, "Temple of Israel be like half-baked loaf of bread. Dem rely on nation wey dey around them

⁹ And no realize shey as em dey rely, foreigner don rob them of their strength. Their day dey numbered, but dem no know.

¹⁰ The strong head of people of Israel dey cry out against them. Upon everything wey don happen, dem never return to me, the LORD their God.

¹¹ Israel dey fly around like silly pigeon; first her people call Egypt for help, and them run go meet Assyria!

¹² But I go spread out net and I go catch them like bird as dem dey go around. I go punish them for the evil wey dem don do.

¹³ "Dem don enter trouble! Dem don leave me and dem no obey me. I go destroy them. I wan save them, but na false worship dem dey give me.

¹⁴ Dem never pray to me sincerely, but instead them dey throw themselves for ground and cry as pagan dey do. Dem dey wound theirselves like pagan, when dem pray for corn and wine. What rebel dem be!

¹⁵ Even though na me bring them up and make them strong, dem plan against me.

¹⁶ Dem keep on to dey turn away from me to another god wey no get power. Dem no dey reliable like crook bow, because their leaders dey talk arrogant, na terrible death dem go die, and people of Egypt go laugh."
