Ezekiel 18

¹ God speak to me

² and talk say, "wetin be this proverb wey people dey repeat every time for Israel? "The parent chop bad fruit, But na the children dey feel the bad taste."

³ The Almighty God talk say, "As surely as I be the living God," una no go repeat this prover for Israel again.

⁴ Na me get the life of everyone, life of the parent and the children. The person wey sin na the one wey go die.

⁵ "Suppose say truly good man, righteous and honest dey.

⁶ He no dey worship the idol of Israelite or eat the sacrifices wey offer for forbidden shrine. He no dey attract another man wife or get sex with woman wey dey do her period.

⁷ He no dey cheat or rob anyone. He retun anything wey borrower carry give am as security; he dey give the hungry food and dey give cloth to people wey dey naked.

⁸ he no dey borrow people money for profit. He no dey do evil and he dey give honest decision to every argument.

⁹ Almighty God talk say, that kind man dey obey my command and dey carefully keep my law. He dey righteous, and he go live,"

¹⁰ "Then suppose say this man get son wey rob and kill, wey do any of these things

¹¹ that the father never do. He chop the sacrifice wey dem offer for forbidden shrine and the attract another man wife.

¹² He dey cheat the poor, he dey rob, he dey keep the thing wey borrower give am as security. He dey go pagan shrine and dey worship disgusting idol,

¹³ and dey borrow people money for profit. Say he go live? No, he no go live. He do do all this terrible things, and so he go die. He go be blame for his own death.

¹⁴ "Now suppose say this second man get son. He see all the sins wey him father practice, but no follow his example.

¹⁵ He no dey worship the idol of Israelite or chop the sacrifice wey dem offer for forbidden shrine. He no dey attract another man wife.

¹⁶ or oppress anyone or rob anyone. He return anything wey borrower give am as security. He dey feed the hungry ones and dey clothe the naked.

¹⁷ He no gree do evil and no dey borrow money to people for profit. He dey keep my law and dey obey my command. He no die because of sin of him father, but he go surely live.

¹⁸ His father on the other hand, dey cheat and rob, and dey always do evil to everyone. And he die because of the sin wey he himself don commit.

¹⁹ "But you ask say, "Why the son no go suffer because of his father sin?" the answer be say the son dey do the right and good thing. He dey keep my laws and dey follow dem carefully, and so he go carefully live.

²⁰ Na te one wey sin go die. Son no go suffer for the sin of his father, nor father go suffer for the sin of his son. Good person go get rewarded for doing good, and evil person go suffer for the evil ey he don do.

²¹ "If evil person stop to dey sin and start to dey keep my law, if he do right and good thing, he no go die, he go certainly live.

²² All his sins go be forgiven, and he go live, because he dey do right thing.

²³ The Almighty God ask, say you think say I dey enjoy to see death of evil people?". "No, I go better see him repent and live.

²⁴ "But if righteous personal stop to dey do good and start to dey do all evil, disgusting things wey evil people dey do, sey he go dey live? No! I no go remember any of the good wey he don do. He go die because of his sin and unfaithfulness.

²⁵ "But you talk say, "Wetin God do no right." Make una listen to me, you Israelite. Una think say my way of doing things no right? Nauna way no right.

²⁶ When righteous person stop to dey do good and start to dey do evil and come die, he die because of the evil wey he don do.

²⁷ When evil some stop to dey sin and start to dey do right and good, he don save his life.

²⁸ He realise wetin him dey do and stop to dey sin, so certainly, he no go die but go dey live.

²⁹ And una Israelite talk say, "Wetin God do no right," una think say my way no right, no be so? Na una way no right.

³⁰ "Now I, Almighty God, I dey tell you Israelite say I go judge each one of una by wetin una don do. Turn away from all evil wey una dey do, and no let una sin destroy una.

³¹ Give up on all evil wey una don dey do, and get una self new mind and new hearts. Why una Israelite wan die?

³² Almighty God talk say, I no want make anyone die," "Turn away from una sin and live."
