1 Ọ̀RỌ Oluwa tun tọ̀ mi wá, wipe,

1 The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,

2 Kini ẹnyin rò ti ẹnyin fi npowe yi niti ilẹ Israeli, pe, Awọn baba ti jẹ eso àjara kíkan, ehin awọn ọmọ si kan.

2 What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?

3 Oluwa Ọlọrun wipe, bi mo ti wà, ẹnyin kì yio ri àye lati powe yi mọ ni ilẹ Israeli.

3 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.

4 Kiye si i, gbogbo ọkàn ni t'emi; gẹgẹ bi ọkàn baba ti jẹ t'emi, bẹ̃ni t'emi ni ọkàn ọmọ pẹlu; ọkàn ti o bá ṣẹ̀, on o kú.

4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

5 Ṣugbọn bi enia kan ba ṣe olõtọ, ti o si ṣe eyiti o tọ ati eyiti o yẹ,

5 But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,

6 Ti kò si jẹun lori oke, ti kò si gbe oju rẹ̀ soke si awọn oriṣa ile Israeli, ti kò si bà obinrin aladugbo rẹ̀ jẹ, ti kò sì sunmọ obinrin ti o wà ninu aimọ́ rẹ̀.

6 And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman,

7 Ti kò si ni ẹnikan lara, ṣugbọn ti o ti fi ohun ògo onigbèse fun u, ti kò fi agbara kó ẹnikẹni, ti o ti fi onjẹ rẹ̀ fun ẹniti ebi npa, ti o si ti fi ẹwu bo ẹni-ihoho.

7 And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;

8 Ẹniti kò fi fun ni lati gba ẹdá, bẹ̃ni kò gba elékele, ti o ti fa ọwọ́ rẹ̀ kuro ninu aiṣedẽde, ti o ti mu idajọ otitọ ṣẹ lãrin ọkunrin ati ọkunrin,

8 He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,

9 Ti o ti rìn ninu aṣẹ mi, ti o si ti pa idajọ mi mọ, lati hùwa titọ́; on ṣe olõtọ, yiyè ni yio yè, ni Oluwa Ọlọrun wi.

9 Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.

10 Bi o ba bi ọmọkunrin kan ti iṣe ọlọṣà, oluta ẹ̀jẹ silẹ, ti o si nṣe ohun ti o jọ ọkan ninu nkan wọnyi si arakunrin rẹ̀.

10 If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things,

11 Ti kò si ṣe ọkan ninu gbogbo iṣẹ wọnni, ṣugbọn ti o tilẹ ti jẹun lori oke, ti o si ba obinrin aladugbo rẹ̀ jẹ,

11 And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,

12 Ti o ti ni talaka ati alaini lara; ti o ti fi agbara koni, ti kò mu ohun ògo pada, ti o ti gbe oju rẹ̀ soke si oriṣa, ti o ti ṣe ohun irira,

12 Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,

13 Ti o ti fi fun ni lati gba ẹdá, ti o si ti gba èle: on o ha yè bẹ̃? on ki yio yè: on ti ṣe gbogbo ohun irira wọnyi; kikú ni yio kú: ẹjẹ rẹ̀ yio wà lori rẹ̀.

13 Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.

14 Si kiye si i, bi o ba bi ọmọkunrin ti o ri gbogbo ẹ̀ṣẹ baba rẹ̀ ti o ti ṣe, ti o si bẹ̀ru, ti kò si ṣe iru rẹ̀,

14 Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,

15 Ti kò si jẹun lori oke, ti kò gbe oju rẹ̀ soke si oriṣa ile Israeli, ti kò ba obinrin aladugbo rẹ̀ jẹ,

15 That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife,

16 Ti kò ni ẹnikan lara, ti kò dá ohun ògo duro, ti kò fi agbara koni, ṣugbọn ti o ti fi onjẹ rẹ̀ fun ẹniti ebi npa, ti o si ti fi ẹ̀wu bo ẹni-ihoho,

16 Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,

17 Ti o ti mu ọwọ́ rẹ̀ kuro lara ẹni-inilara, ti kò ti gba ẹdá tabi elé ti o ti mu idajọ mi ṣẹ, ti o ti rìn ninu aṣẹ mi; on kì yio kú nitori aiṣedẽde baba rẹ̀, yiyè ni yio yè.

17 That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.

18 Bi o ṣe ti baba rẹ̀, nitoripe o fi ikà ninilara, ti o fi agbara ko arakunrin rẹ̀; ti o ṣe eyiti kò dara lãrin enia rẹ̀, kiye si i, on o tilẹ kú ninu aiṣedẽde rẹ̀.

18 As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.

19 Ṣugbọn ẹnyin wipe, Ẽṣe? ọmọ kò ha ru aiṣedẽde baba? Nigbati ọmọ ti ṣe eyiti o tọ́ ati eyiti o yẹ, ti o si ti pa gbogbo aṣẹ mi mọ, ti o si ti ṣe wọn, yiyè ni yio yè.

19 Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.

20 Ọkàn ti o ba ṣẹ̀, on o kú. Ọmọ kì yio rù aiṣedẽde baba, bẹ̃ni baba kì yio rù aiṣedẽde ọmọ: ododo olododo yio wà lori rẹ̀, ìwa buburu enia buburu yio si wà lori rẹ̀.

20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

21 Ṣugbọn bi enia buburu yio ba yipada kuro ninu gbogbo ẹ̀ṣẹ rẹ̀ ti o ti da, ti o si pa gbogbo aṣẹ mi mọ, ti o si ṣe eyi ti o tọ́, ati eyiti o yẹ, yiyè ni yio yè, on kì yio kú.

21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

22 Gbogbo irekọja rẹ̀ ti o ti ṣe, a kì yio ranti wọn si i: ninu ododo rẹ̀ ti o ti ṣe ni on o yè.

22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.

23 Emi ha ni inu-didùn rara pe ki enia buburu ki o kú? ni Oluwa Ọlọrun wi: kò ṣepe ki o yipada kuro ninu ọ̀na rẹ̀, ki o si yè?

23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

25 Ṣugbọn ẹnyin wipe, ọ̀na Oluwa kò gún. Gbọ́ nisisiyi, iwọ ile Israeli; ọ̀na mi kò ha gún? ọ̀na ti nyin kọ́ kò gún?

25 Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?

26 Nigbati olododo kan ba yipada kuro ninu ododo rẹ̀, ti o si huwà aiṣedẽde, ti o si kú ninu wọn; nitori aiṣedẽde rẹ̀ ti o ti ṣe ni yio kú.

26 When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.

27 Ẹwẹ, nigbati enia buburu ba yipada kuro ninu ìwa buburu rẹ̀ ti o ti ṣe, ti o si ṣe eyiti o tọ́, ati eyiti o yẹ, on o gba ọkàn rẹ̀ là lãye.

27 Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.

28 Nitoripe o bẹ̀ru o si yipada kuro ninu gbogbo irekọja rẹ̀ ti o ti ṣe, yiyè ni yio yè, on kì yio kú.

28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

29 Ṣugbọn ile Israeli wipe, Ọ̀na Oluwa kò gún. Ile Israeli, ọ̀na mi kò ha gún? ọ̀na ti nyin kọ́ kò gún?

29 Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?

30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.

31 Ẹ ta gbogbo irekọja nyin nù kuro lọdọ nyin, nipa eyiti ẹnyin fi rekọja; ẹ si dá ọkàn titun ati ẹmi titun fun ara nyin: nitori kini ẹnyin o ṣe kú, ile Israeli?

31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

32 Nitoripe emi kò ni inu didùn si ikú ẹniti o kú, ni Oluwa Ọlọrun wi: nitorina ẹ yi ara nyin pada, ki ẹ si yè.

32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.
