Exodus 5

¹ Moses and Aaron go meet Pharaoh, and dem say, "The LORD, God of Israel talk say, "Let my people go, so that dem fit do festival for desert to honor me.""

² "Na so?" Pharaoh asked, "Who be the LORD? Why I go listen to him and allow Israel go? I no know the LORD; and I no go let Israel go."

³ Moses and Aaron come reply say, "The God of Hebrew don show himself to us. Allow us travel inside desert for three days make we go offer sacrifice for LORD our God. If we no do so, he go kill us with disease or war."

⁴ The king come tell Moses and Aaron say, "why una wan take people away from their work? Make the slaves go back to work.

⁵ Una don plenty pass Egyptians. And una wan stop to dey work.

⁶ That same day, Pharaoh command slave drivers and overseer wey dey in charge of Israelites.

⁷ Make dem stop to dey give Israelites straw to make brick. Make dem dey find am by themselves.

⁸ But dem still ask them to still dey make the same number of bricks as before, make one no miss. Dem no get work to do, na why dem dey ask me to allow them go make sacrifice to their God.

⁹ Make una put them to work harder and keep them busy, so that dem no go get time to dey listen to lies."

¹⁰ The slave driver and Israelite overseer come tell Israelites say, "The King don talk say him no go give una straw anymore.

¹¹ He talk say una must go get am for unaself wherever u fit find am, but una go dey make same number of brick."

¹² Naso all of them begin to dey find straw all over Egypt.

¹³ Slave driver continue to force them to dey make the same number of bricks everyday as dem dey make when dem dey give them straw.

¹⁴ The Egyptian slave driver begin dey beat Israelite overseer wey dem put in charge of the work. Dem ask them, "why una no dey make the same number of brick una dey make before?"

¹⁵ Naso the overseer go meet the king and dem complain, "Why you dey treat us like this, Your Majesty?

¹⁶ Dem no give us straw, but dem still dey ask us to make bricks! Now dem dey beat us. Na your people dey at fault.

¹⁷ The king answer, "Una dey lazy, and una no wan work, na why una ask me to let una go offer sacrifice to the LORD.

¹⁸ Now, make una go back to work! Dem no go give una any straw, and una go make sure say u make same number of bricks everyday as una dey do before.

¹⁹ The overseer know say dem don enter trouble when dem hear say dem need to dey make same number of brick as dem dey do before. 20As dem dey go out, dem meet Moses and Aaron , wey dey wait for them.

²¹ Dem tell Moses and Aaron say, "God don see wetin you don do and him go punish you for making the king and him officer hate us. You don give dem opportunity to dey kill us.

²² Moses come turn to God again and say, " God, why you dey mistreat your people? Why you send me come here?

²³ Ever since I go follow the king discuss on your behalf, he don dey treat them bad. And you no bother do anything to help them.
