Exodus 33

¹ God tell Moses say, "Commot for this place, you and the people wey you bring out of Egypt, make una go to the land wey I don promise to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and their descendants.

² I go send angel to guide you, and I go drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, and Jebusites.

³ Una dey go rich and fertile land. But I no go go with una myself, because una stubborn, and I fit destroy una on the way.

⁴ When dem hear wetin God talk, dem begin dey mourn and dem no wear jewelry anymore.

⁵ God don command Moses make he tell them say, "Una be stubborn people. If I go with una even for a moment, I go destroy una completely. Make una take off una jewelry, and I go decide wetin to do with una."

⁶ So after dem leave Mount Sinai, the people of Israel no dey wear jewelry again.

⁹ After Moses don go in, pillar of cloud go come down and stay at the door of the Tent, and God go talk to Moses from the cloud.

¹⁰ As soon as people dey see the pillar of cloud for door of the Tent, dem go bow down.

¹¹ God go speak with Moses face to face, as person dey follow friend talk. Then Moses go return go camp. But the young man wey be him helper, Joshua son of Nun go stay in the Tent.

¹² Moses tell God say, "Na true say you don tell me to lead these people to that land, but you no tell me who you go send with me. You don talk say you know me well and you dey okay with me.

¹³ Now if naso, tell me your plans, so that I fit serve you and continue to dey please you. Also remember say you don choose this nation to be your nation.

¹⁴ God say, "I go go with you, and I go give you victory."

¹⁵ Moses reply say, "If you no go go with us, no make us leave this place.

¹⁶ How people go know say you dey pleased with your people and me, if you no go with us? Your presence go make us dey different from any other people on earth."

¹⁷ God tell Moses say, "I go do wetin you don ask, because I know you well and I dey pleased with you."

¹⁸ Moses request say, "Abeg, make I see the glorious light of your presence."

¹⁹ God answer say, "I go make my glory pass before you and for your presence I go pronounce my holy name. Na me be God, and I dey show compassion and pity on the ones wey I choose.

²⁰ I no go allow you see my face, because no one fit see me and stay alive,

²¹ but here na place beside me wey you fit stand on a rock.

²² When the glorious light of my presence pass by, I go put you for opening in the rock and cover you with my hand until I don pass by.

²³ Then I go take my hand away, and you go see my back but not my face."
