Deuteronomy 8

¹ Moses say, "People of Israel, shey una wan go to the land wey God don promise una ancestors? Shey una wan take am, live for there, and become powerful nation? Then make una dey sure say una obey every command wey I dey give una.

² Make una no forget how the LORD una God lead una through desert for the past forty years. He wan find out if una go truly obey him and depend on him,

³ naso he make hunger wire una. He come give una manna, the kind food wey una and una ancestors never hear about before. God dey teach una say people need pass food to survive " dem need every word wey God don say.

⁴ For over 40 years, una cloth never worn-out, and una feet never swell.

⁵ So, dey keep am for mind say God don dey correct una, just as parent dey correct children.

⁶ Make una obey the commands the LORD una God don give una and worship him in fear.

⁷ The LORD una God dey bring una enter a good land with streams wey flow from springs for valley and hills.

⁹ Una fit dig for copper in the hills, and the stones be like iron. And hunger no go wire una. Wheat and barley field dey for everywhere, with vineyards and orchards wey dey full of fig, pomegranate, and olive trees, and plenty honey dey.

¹⁰ After una don eat belleful, make una praise the LORD una God for the good land he give una.

¹¹ Make sure say una never forget God or disobey him laws and commands, wey I dey give una today. If una always obey them,

¹² una go get plenty to eat, and una go build good house to dey live.

¹³ Una go get more and more cattle, sheep, silver, gold, and other things.

¹⁴ But when all this happen, no dey proud! No forget say una be slaves for Egypt before, and na God set una free.

¹⁷ When una don become successful, no talk say, "I"m rich and I learn everything by myself."

¹⁸ Instead, make una remember say the LORD una God dey give una strength to make a living. Naso he dey keep the promise he make to una ancestors.
