Daniel 9

¹ Darius wey be Mede, wey be son of Xerxes, rule over the kingdom of Babylonia.

² For the first year wey he be King, I dey study the holy book and I dey think about seventy years wey Jerusalem go destroy, according to wetin God don tell prophet Jeremiah.

³ And I pray very well to the Lord God, I dey beg him, fast, wear sackcloth and I siddon for ashes.

⁴ I pray to the Lord my God and I confess the sin of my people. I tell am say, "Lord God, you dey great and we dey honor you, you always dey faithful to your agreement and you dey always show love to those wey love you and dey obey wetin you say make dem do.

⁵ "We don sin, we don do evil, we don do wrong things. We don reject wetin you tell us make we do, and we don leave the right thing wey you show us.

⁶ We no dey hear your servant wey be prophet, wey speak in your name to our king, rulers, ancestors, and all our nations.

⁷ You God dey always do right thing, but we dey always bring disgrace on top ourselves. Na this be truth about all of us wey dey live for Judah and Jerusalem and the Israelite wey you scatter from near and far, because dem no dey faithful to you.

⁸ Our Kings, our rulers, our ancestors don disgrace and sin against you, God.

⁹ You dey forgive and get mercy on your people even though we don sin again you.

¹⁰ O, Lord our God, we no listen to you when you tell us make we dey live according to the laws wey you give us through your servants wey be prophets.

¹¹ The whole Israel don break your laws and no gree listen to wetin you talk, so you bring the curse wey dey the law of Moses your servant on top us, because we don sin against you.

¹² You do wetin you talk say you go do to us and our rulers. You punish Jerusalem many time pass other city on top earth,

¹³ give us all the punishment wey dey law of Moses. Even now, O LORD our God, we never try please you by turning away ftom our sin to dey follow your truth.

¹⁴ You, O LORD our God don prepare to punish us and you do am, because you dey always do the right thing and we no listen to you.

¹⁵ "O lord our God, you show your power as you carry your people commot from Egypt, and we still dey remember your power. We don sin as we don do wrong thing.

¹⁶ You don save us for past, so make you no vex for Jerusalem again. Because na your city, your holy hill. All people wey dey other country dey look down on Jerusalem and your people because of our sin and evil wey our ancestors don do.

¹⁷ O God, hear my prayers as I dey beg you, rebuild your Temple, wey don destroy; rebuild am, so everybody go know say you be God.

¹⁸ Hear us, O God; look us, see the kind trouble wey we dey and the suffering of the city wey dey answer your name. We dey pray to you because say you dey merciful, no be because we don do right thing.

¹⁹ Hear us God, God forgive us, hear us, God and do something! So that everyone go know say you be God, no delay! This city and people wey dey inside be your own."

²⁰ I go pray to confess my sin, the sin of my people Israel, and dey beg the LORD my God make he rebuild him holy Temple.

²¹ As I dey pray, Gabriel wey I don see for vision before fly come down to where I dey. Na evening, the time wey we suppose offer sacrifice.

²² He explain say, "Daniel, I don come here con help you understand the prophecy.

²³ When you begin dey beg God, he answer you, he love you, and so I don come tell you the answer. Now hear as I dey explain the vision.

²⁴ "Seventy weeks na the time wey God don set to free your people and your holy city from sin and evil. Sins go dey forgiven and justice go dey established, so that the vision and the prophesy go come true and the holy Temple go dey rededicated.

²⁵ Know this and understand am; from the time wey he don command to rebuild Jerusalem, until the leaders wey God choose go come, seventy weeks go pass. Jerusalem go dey rebuilt with street and strong defences and go stand for sixty weeks, but this go be time of trouble.

²⁶ so when that time end, dem go kill the leader wey God choose. Army of one powerful ruler go destroy the city and the Temple. The end go come like flood, with war and destruction wey God don prepare.

²⁷ The rulers go get agreement with many people for one week, and when half don pass out of the time, he go end the sacrifices and offerings. Destroyer go dey on top the highest point of the Temple and go dey for there till the one wey put am there go meet the end wey God don prepare for am."
