Daniel 5

¹ King Belshazzar do big party for one thousand big men. and the king dey drink wine with dem.

² As dem dey drink, Belshazzar tell dem make dem bring in gold and silver cup and bowls which him father Nebuchadnezzar don commot for Temple for Jerusalem. The king say make dem bring am so him and him noblemen, him wives, and him concubine go drink from inside them.

³ Dem bring the gold and the bowl once, and all of dem drink wine from am.

⁴ As dem dey drink , dem praise their idol god, wey be statue wey dem use gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood and stone make.

⁵ Suddenly human hand show, begin to dey write for the plaster wall of the palace, where the light from the lamp dey shine brighter. And the king see the hand as e dey write.

⁶ King Belshazzar con begin dey fear, him face turn white for fear, and him knee dey shake, he no fit stand up because him leg dey weak.

⁷ He shout say make dem bring am magician, wizard, astrologers, when dem com ,the king tell dem say, anyone wey fit read and tell me wetin this thing mean go dey dress in cloth of royal purple, wear gold chain of honor round him neck, and go be the third in power for the kingdom."

⁸ The royal advisor come forward but none of dem fit read the writing or tell king wetin e mean.

⁹ King Belshazzar official con dey confuse and the king dey fear and worry, and him face white for fear.

¹⁰ The mother of the queen hear the noise wey the king and him noble men dey make, She enter the banquet hall go meet dem. con talk say, "You go live forever Your Majesty! Abeg no dey confuse and fear.

¹¹ One man dey for your kingdom wey get the spirit of holy God. When your father be king, this man show good sense, knowledge, and wisdom like the wisdom of gods. And king Nebuchadnezzar make am king of fortune teller, magician, wizard and astrologers.

¹² He get ability wey no common and he dey wise and skillful to dey interpret dream, solving problem and to dey explain dream; so make you send for this man wey be Daniel, wey the king dey call Belteshazzar, and he go tell you wetin all this thing mean."

¹³ Na so dem bring Daniel come the king presence, the king ask am say, "Na you be Daniel, that Jew wey my father who be king bring comot for Judah?

¹⁴ I don hear say spirit of holy God dey with you and say you get skill, knowledge and wisdom.

¹⁵ I bring the advisers and magician make dem con read this writing and tell me wetin e mean, but dem no fit discover the meaning.

¹⁶ And now I don hear say you fit find hidden meaning and you fit explain dream, if you fit read the writing and tell me wetin dem mean, you go dey dress in robe of royal purple, wear gold chain of honor round for your neck, and you go be the third in power for the kingdom."

¹⁷ Daniel tell am say, "keep your gift for yourself or carry dem give someone else. I go read for your majesty the writing and I go tell you wetin e mean.

¹⁸ "The supreme God make your father Nebuchadnezzar great king con give am dignity and majesty.

¹⁹ He great so tey people of all nations, race, and language dey fear am and dem dey shake. If he wan kill anybody, he go kill am, if he wan keep anybody alive, he go keep am, He dey honor or disgrace person as he like.

²⁰ But he con dey proud, stubborn, and wicked, I commot am from the royal palace and he lose him place of honor.

²¹ I drive am commot for human society, and him mind become like that of animal. He live with monkey, chop grass like animal, and sleep for open air and he no get cloth to protect am from dew. And finally he gree say, Almighty God dey control all human kingdom and he fit give dem to anyone wey he choose.

²² "But you wey be him son never humble yourself, even though you sabi all this thing.

²³ You dey act like God of heaven and you bring cups and bowls wey dem take for him Temple. You, your noblemen, your wives, and your concubine drink wine from them and una dey praise god wey dem use gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone make " god wey no fit see or hear and wey no sabi anything. But you no honor who dey determine whether you go live or die and wey dey control everything wey you dey do.

²⁴ na the reason why God don send the hand make e write these words.

²⁵ "This na wetin e don write: "Number, number, Weigh, division."

²⁶ and this na wetin e mean: number, God don number the day of your kingdom and don bring am to end;

²⁷ weigh, he don weigh you and see say, you dey too light;

²⁸ divisions, he don divide your kingdom and don carry am give Medes and Persians."

²⁹ And Belshazzar tell him servant immediately say, make dem dress Daniel for robe of royal purple and make dem hang gold of chain round him neck. And he make am third in power for the kingdom.

³⁰ na that same night dem kill the king of Babylon wey be Belshazzar.

³¹ and Darius the Mede, wey be 62 years old, take royal power.
