1 KI olukuluku ọkàn ki o foribalẹ fun awọn alaṣẹ ti o wà ni ipo giga. Nitori kò si aṣẹ kan, bikoṣe lati ọdọ Ọlọrun wá: awọn alaṣẹ ti o si wà, lati ọdọ Ọlọrun li a ti làna rẹ̀ wá.
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Nitorina ẹniti o ba tapá si aṣẹ, o tapá si ìlana Ọlọrun: awọn ẹniti o ba si ntapá, yio gbà ẹbi fun ara wọn.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 Nitori awọn ijoye kì iṣe ẹ̀ru si iṣẹ rere, bikoṣe si iṣẹ buburu. Njẹ iwọ ha fẹ ṣaibẹru aṣẹ wọn? ṣe eyi ti o dara, iwọ ó si gbà iyìn lati ọdọ rẹ̀:
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 Nitori iranṣẹ Ọlọrun ni iṣe si ọ fun rere. Ṣugbọn bi iwọ ba nṣe buburu, bẹru; nitori kò gbé idà na lasan: nitori iranṣẹ Ọlọrun ni iṣe, olugbẹsan lati ṣiṣẹ ibinu lara ẹniti nṣe buburu.
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Nitorina ẹnyin kò gbọdọ ṣaima tẹriba, kì iṣe nitoriti ibinu nikan, ṣugbọn nitori ẹri-ọkàn pẹlu.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
6 Nitori idi eyi na li ẹ ṣe san owo-ode pẹlu: nitori iranṣẹ Ọlọrun ni nwọn eyiyi na ni nwọn mbojuto nigbagbogbo.
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Nitorina ẹ san ohun ti o tọ fun ẹni gbogbo: owo-ode fun ẹniti owo-ode iṣe tirẹ̀: owo-bode fun ẹniti owo-bode iṣe tirẹ̀; ẹ̀ru fun ẹniti ẹ̀ru iṣe tirẹ̀; ọlá fun ẹniti ọlá iṣe tirẹ̀.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
8 Ẹ máṣe jẹ ẹnikẹni ni gbese ohun kan, bikoṣepe ki a fẹran ọmọnikeji ẹni: nitori ẹniti o ba fẹran ọmọnikeji rẹ̀, o kó ofin já.
8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
9 Nitori eyi, Iwọ kò gbọdọ ṣe panṣaga, Iwọ kò gbọdọ pania, Iwọ kò gbọdọ jale, Iwọ kò gbọdọ jẹri eke, Iwọ kò gbọdọ ṣojukòkoro; bi ofin miran ba si wà, a ko o pọ ninu ọ̀rọ yi pe, Fẹran ọmọnikeji rẹ bi ara rẹ.
9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
10 Ifẹ kì iṣe ohun buburu si ọmọnikeji rẹ̀: nitorina ifẹ li akója ofin.
10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
11 Ati eyi, bi ẹ ti mọ̀ akokò pe, o ti to wakati nisisiyi fun nyin lati ji loju orun: nitori nisisiyi ni igbala wa sunmọ etile jù igbati awa ti gbagbọ́ lọ.
11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12 Oru bukọja tan, ilẹ si fẹrẹ mọ́: nitorina ẹ jẹ ki a bọ́ ara iṣẹ òkunkun silẹ, ki a si gbe ihamọra imọlẹ wọ̀.
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13 Jẹ ki a mã rìn ìrin titọ, bi li ọsán; kì iṣe ni iréde-oru ati ni imutipara, kì iṣe ni iwa-ẽri ati wọbia, kì iṣe ni ìja ati ilara.
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 Ṣugbọn ẹ gbe Jesu Kristi Oluwa wọ̀, ki ẹ má si pèse fun ara, lati mã mu ifẹkufẹ rẹ̀ ṣẹ.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
