1 ẸGBỌ́ eyi, gbogbo enia; ẹ fi eti si i, gbogbo ẹnyin araiye:

1 Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:

2 Ati awọn ọmọ-ẹhin ati awọn ẹni-ọlá, awọn ọlọrọ̀ ati awọn talaka pẹlu.

2 Both low and high, rich and poor, together.

3 Ẹnu mi yio sọ̀rọ ọgbọ́n, ati iṣaro aiya mi yio jẹ oye.

3 My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

4 Emi o dẹ eti mi silẹ si owe: emi o ṣi ọ̀rọ ìkọkọ mi silẹ loju okùn dùru.

4 I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.

5 Ẽṣe ti emi o fi bẹ̀ru li ọjọ ibi, nigbati ẹ̀ṣẹ awọn ajinilẹsẹ mi yi mi ka.

5 Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?

6 Awọn ti o gbẹkẹle ọrọ̀ wọn, ti nwọn si nṣe ileri li ọ̀pọlọpọ ọrọ̀ wọn;

6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

7 Kò si ẹnikan, bi o ti wù ki o ṣe, ti o le rà arakunrin rẹ̀, bẹ̃ni kò le san owo-irapada fun Ọlọrun nitori rẹ̀.

7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

8 Nitori irapada ọkàn wọn iyebiye ni, o si dẹkun lailai:

8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

9 Nipe ki o fi mã wà lailai, ki o má ṣe ri isa-okú.

9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.

10 Nitori o nri pe awọn ọlọgbọ́n nkú, bẹ̃li aṣiwere ati ẹranko enia nṣegbe, nwọn si nfi ọrọ̀ wọn silẹ fun ẹlomiran.

10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

11 Ìro inu wọn ni, ki ile wọn ki o pẹ titi lai, ati ibujoko wọn lati irandiran; nwọn sọ ilẹ wọn ní orukọ ara wọn.

11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.

12 Ṣugbọn enia ti o wà ninu ọlá kò duro pẹ: o dabi ẹranko ti o ṣegbé.

12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.

13 Ipa ọ̀na wọn yi ni igbẹkẹle wọn: ọ̀rọ wọn si tọ́ li oju awọn ọmọ wọn.

13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.

14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.

15 Ṣugbọn Ọlọrun ni yio rà ọkàn mi lọwọ isa-okú: nitoripe on o gbà mi.

15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

16 Iwọ máṣe bẹ̀ru, nitori ẹnikan di ọlọrọ̀, nitori iyìn ile rẹ̀ npọ̀ si i.

16 Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;

17 Nitoripe, igbati o ba kú, kì yio kó ohun kan lọ: ogo rẹ̀ kì yio sọkalẹ tọ̀ ọ lẹhin lọ.

17 For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

18 Nigbati o wà lãye bi o tilẹ nsure fun ọkàn ara rẹ̀: ti awọn enia nyìn ọ, nigbati iwọ nṣe rere fun ara rẹ.

18 Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.

19 Ọkàn yio lọ si ọdọ iran awọn baba rẹ̀; nwọn kì yio ri imọlẹ lailai.

19 He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.

20 Ọkunrin ti o wà ninu ọlá, ti kò moye, o dabi ẹranko ti o ṣegbe.

20 Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
