1 NINU ipọnju mi emi kepè Oluwa, o si da mi lohùn.

1 In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.

2 Oluwa, gbà ọkàn mi, lọwọ ète eke, ati lọwọ ahọn ẹ̀tan?

2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

3 Kini ki a fi fun ọ? tabi kini ki a ṣe si ọ, ahọn ẹ̀tan.

3 What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?

4 Ọfà mimu alagbara, ti on ti ẹyin-iná igi juniperi!

4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

5 Egbe ni fun mi, ti mo ṣe atipo ni Meṣeki, ti mo joko ninu agọ Kedari!

5 Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!

6 O ti pẹ ti ọkàn mi ti ba ẹniti o korira alafia gbe.

6 My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.

7 Alafia ni mo fẹ: ṣugbọn nigbati mo ba sọ̀rọ, ija ni ti wọn.

7 I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.
