1 ỌMỌ mi, bi iwọ ba fẹ igba ọ̀rọ mi, ki iwọ si pa ofin mi mọ́ pẹlu rẹ.
1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 Ti iwọ dẹti rẹ silẹ si ọgbọ́n, ti iwọ si fi ọkàn si oye;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 Ani bi iwọ ba nke tọ̀ ìmọ lẹhin, ti iwọ si gbé ohùn rẹ soke fun oye;
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 Bi iwọ ba ṣafẹri rẹ̀ bi fadaka, ti iwọ si nwá a kiri bi iṣura ti a pamọ́;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 Nigbana ni iwọ o mọ̀ ibẹ̀ru Oluwa, iwọ o si ri ìmọ Ọlọrun.
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 Nitori Oluwa ni ifi ọgbọ́n funni: lati ẹnu rẹ̀ jade ni ìmọ ati oye ti iwá.
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7 O to igbala jọ fun awọn olododo: on li asà fun awọn ti nrìn dede.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8 O pa ipa-ọ̀na idajọ mọ́, o si pa ọ̀na awọn ayanfẹ rẹ̀ mọ́.
8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9 Nigbana ni iwọ o mọ̀ ododo, ati idajọ, ati aiṣegbe; ani, gbogbo ipa-ọ̀na rere.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 Nigbati ọgbọ́n bá wọ̀ inu rẹ lọ, ti ìmọ si dùn mọ ọkàn rẹ;
10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 Imoye yio pa ọ mọ́, oye yio si ma ṣọ́ ọ:
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
12 Lati gbà ọ li ọwọ ẹni-ibi, li ọwọ ọkunrin ti nsọrọ ayidayida;
12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
13 Ẹniti o fi ipa-ọ̀na iduroṣinṣin silẹ, lati rìn li ọ̀na òkunkun;
13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 Ẹniti o yọ̀ ni buburu iṣe, ti o ṣe inu-didùn si ayidàyidà awọn enia buburu;
14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
15 Ọ̀na ẹniti o wọ́, nwọn si ṣe arekereke ni ipa-ọ̀na wọn:
15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:
16 Lati gbà ọ li ọwọ ajeji obinrin, ani li ọwọ ajeji obinrin ti nfi ọ̀rọ ẹnu rẹ̀ pọnni;
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
17 Ẹniti o kọ̀ ọrẹ́ igbà-ewe rẹ̀ silẹ, ti o si gbagbe majẹmu Ọlọrun rẹ̀.
17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
18 Nitoripe ile rẹ̀ tẹ̀ sinu ikú, ati ipa-ọ̀na rẹ̀ sọdọ awọn okú.
18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
19 Kò si ẹniti o tọ̀ ọ lọ ti o si tun pada sẹhin, bẹ̃ni nwọn kì idé ipa-ọ̀na ìye.
19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.
20 Ki iwọ ki o le ma rin li ọ̀na enia rere, ki iwọ ki o si pa ọ̀na awọn olododo mọ́.
20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
21 Nitoripe ẹni-iduroṣinṣin ni yio joko ni ilẹ na, awọn ti o pé yio si ma wà ninu rẹ̀.
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
22 Ṣugbọn awọn enia buburu li a o ke kuro ni ilẹ aiye, ati awọn olurekọja li a o si fàtu kuro ninu rẹ̀.
22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
