1 OWE Solomoni, ọmọ Dafidi, ọba Israeli;
1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
2 Lati mọ̀ ọgbọ́n ati ẹkọ́; lati mọ̀ ọ̀rọ oye;
2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
3 Lati gbà ẹkọ́ ọgbọ́n, ododo, ati idajọ, ati aiṣègbe;
3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
4 Lati fi oye fun alaimọ̀kan, lati fun ọdọmọkunrin ni ìmọ ati ironu.
4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
5 Ọlọgbọ́n yio gbọ́, yio si ma pọ̀ si i li ẹkọ́; ati ẹni oye yio gba igbimọ̀ ọgbọ́n:
5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
6 Lati mọ̀ owe, ati ìtumọ; ọ̀rọ ọgbọ́n, ati ọ̀rọ ikọkọ wọn.
6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 Ibẹ̀ru Oluwa ni ipilẹṣẹ ìmọ; ṣugbọn awọn aṣiwere gàn ọgbọ́n ati ẹkọ́.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
8 Ọmọ mi, gbọ́ ẹkọ́ baba rẹ, ki iwọ ki o má si kọ̀ ofin iya rẹ silẹ:
8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
9 Nitoripe awọn ni yio ṣe ade ẹwà fun ori rẹ, ati ọṣọ́ yi ọrùn rẹ ka.
9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
10 Ọmọ mi, bi awọn ẹlẹṣẹ̀ ba tàn ọ, iwọ má ṣe gbà.
10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
11 Bi nwọn wipe, Wá pẹlu wa, jẹ ki a ba fun ẹ̀jẹ, jẹ ki a lugọ ni ikọkọ de alaiṣẹ̀ lainidi.
11 If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
12 Jẹ ki a gbe wọn mì lãye bi isà-okú; ati awọn ẹni-diduroṣinṣin bi awọn ti nlọ sinu iho:
12 Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
13 Awa o ri onirũru ọrọ̀ iyebiye, awa o fi ikogun kún ile wa:
13 We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
14 Dà ipin rẹ pọ̀ mọ arin wa; jẹ ki gbogbo wa ki a jọ ni àpo kan:
14 Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
15 Ọmọ mi, máṣe rìn li ọ̀na pẹlu wọn: fà ẹsẹ rẹ sẹhin kuro ni ipa-ọ̀na wọn.
15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
16 Nitori ti ẹsẹ wọn sure si ibi, nwọn si yara lati ta ẹ̀jẹ silẹ.
16 For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
17 Nitõtọ, lasan li a nà àwọn silẹ li oju ẹiyẹkẹiyẹ.
17 Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
18 Awọn wọnyi si ba fun ẹ̀jẹ ara wọn; nwọn lumọ nikọkọ fun ẹmi ara wọn.
18 And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
19 Bẹ̃ni ọ̀na gbogbo awọn ti nṣe ojukokoro ère; ti ngba ẹmi awọn oluwa ohun na.
19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
20 Ọgbọ́n nkigbe lode; o nfọhùn rẹ̀ ni igboro:
20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
21 O nke ni ibi pataki apejọ, ni gbangba ẹnubode ilu, o sọ ọ̀rọ rẹ̀ wipe,
21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
22 Yio ti pẹ tó, ẹnyin alaimọ̀kan ti ẹnyin o fi ma fẹ aimọ̀kan? ati ti awọn ẹlẹgàn yio fi ma ṣe inudidùn ninu ẹ̀gan wọn, ati ti awọn aṣiwere yio fi ma korira ìmọ?
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
23 Ẹ yipada ni ibawi mi; kiyesi i, emi o dà ẹmi mi sinu nyin, emi o fi ọ̀rọ mi hàn fun nyin.
23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
24 Nitori ti emi pè, ti ẹnyin si kọ̀; ti emi nà ọwọ mi, ti ẹnikan kò si kà a si:
24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25 Ṣugbọn ẹnyin ti ṣá gbogbo ìgbimọ mi tì, ẹnyin kò si fẹ ibawi mi:
25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
26 Emi pẹlu o rẹrin idãmu nyin; emi o ṣe ẹ̀fẹ nigbati ibẹ̀ru nyin ba de;
26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
27 Nigbati ibẹ̀ru nyin ba de bi ìji, ati idãmu nyin bi afẹyika-ìji; nigbati wahala ati àrodun ba de si nyin.
27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28 Nigbana ni ẹnyin o kepè mi, ṣugbọn emi kì yio dahùn; nwọn o ṣafẹri mi ni kùtukùtu, ṣugbọn nwọn kì yio ri mi:
28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
29 Nitori ti nwọn korira ìmọ, nwọn kò si yàn ibẹ̀ru Oluwa.
29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
30 Nwọn kò fẹ ìgbimọ mi: nwọn gàn gbogbo ibawi mi.
30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
31 Nitorina ni nwọn o ṣe ma jẹ ninu ère ìwa ara wọn, nwọn o si kún fun ìmọkimọ wọn.
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32 Nitoripe irọra awọn alaimọ̀kan ni yio pa wọn, ati alafia awọn aṣiwere ni yio pa wọn run.
32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
33 Ṣugbọn ẹnikẹni ti o ba fetisi mi yio ma gbe lailewu, yio si farabalẹ kuro ninu ibẹ̀ru ibi.
33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
