1 OWE Solomoni ni wọnyi. Ọlọgbọ́n ọmọ ṣe inu-didùn baba rẹ̀, ṣugbọn aṣiwere ọmọ ni ibanujẹ iya rẹ̀.

1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

2 Iṣura ìwa-buburu kò li ère: ṣugbọn ododo ni igbani kuro lọwọ ikú.

2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

3 Oluwa kì yio jẹ ki ebi ki o pa ọkàn olododo; ṣugbọn o yi ifẹ awọn enia buburu danu.

3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

4 Ẹniti o ba dẹ̀ ọwọ a di talaka; ṣugbọn ọwọ awọn alãpọn ni imu ọlà wá.

4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

5 Ẹniti o ba kojọ ni igba-ẹ̀run li ọlọgbọ́n ọmọ: ṣugbọn ẹniti o ba nsùn ni igba ikore li ọmọ ti idoju tì ni.

5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

6 Ibukún wà li ori olododo: ṣugbọn ìwa-agbara ni yio bo ẹnu enia buburu.

6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

7 Ibukún ni iranti olõtọ: ṣugbọn orukọ enia buburu yio rà.

7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

8 Ọlọgbọ́n inu ni yio gbà ofin: ṣugbọn ete werewere li a o parun.

8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

9 Ẹniti o nrìn dede, o rìn dajudaju: ṣugbọn ẹniti o ba nṣe ayida ọ̀na rẹ̀, on li a o mọ̀.

9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

10 Ẹniti nṣẹ́ oju o mu ibanujẹ wá: ṣugbọn ète werewere li a o parun.

10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

11 Kanga ìye li ẹnu olododo: ṣugbọn ìwa-agbara ni yio bo ẹnu enia buburu.

11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

12 Irira ni irú ìja soke: ṣugbọn ifẹ bò gbogbo ẹ̀ṣẹ mọlẹ.

12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

13 Li ète ẹniti o moye li a ri ọgbọ́n: ṣugbọn kùmọ ni fun ẹhin ẹniti oye kù fun.

13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

14 Awọn ọlọgbọ́n a ma to ìmọ jọ: ṣugbọn ẹnu awọn aṣiwere sunmọ iparun.

14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

15 Ọrọ̀ ọlọlà ni agbára rẹ̀: aini awọn talaka ni iparun wọn.

15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

16 Iṣẹ olododo tẹ̀ si ìye; èro awọn enia buburu si ẹ̀ṣẹ.

16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

17 Ẹniti o ba pa ẹkọ́ mọ́, o wà ni ipa-ọ̀na ìye; ṣugbọn ẹniti o ba kọ̀ ibawi o ṣìna.

17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

18 Ẹniti o ba pa ikorira mọ́ li ète eke, ati ẹniti o ba ngba ọ̀rọ-ẹ̀hin, aṣiwere ni.

18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

19 Ninu ọ̀rọ pipọ, a kò le ifẹ ẹ̀ṣẹ kù: ṣugbọn ẹniti o fi ète mọ ète li o gbọ́n.

19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

20 Ahọn olõtọ dabi ãyo fadaka: aiya enia buburu kò ni iye lori.

20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

21 Ete olododo mbọ́ ọ̀pọlọpọ enia: ṣugbọn awọn aṣiwere yio kú li ailọgbọ́n.

21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

22 Ibukún Oluwa ni imu ni ilà, kì isi ifi lãla pẹlu rẹ̀.

22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

23 Bi ẹrín ni fun aṣiwere lati hu ìwa-ika: ṣugbọn ọlọgbọ́n li ẹni oye.

23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

24 Ibẹ̀ru enia buburu mbọwá ba a: ṣugbọn ifẹ olododo li a o fi fun u.

24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

25 Bi ìji ti ijà rekọja: bẹ̃li enia buburu kì yio si mọ: ṣugbọn olododo ni ipilẹ ainipẹkun.

25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

26 Bi ọti kikan si ehin, ati bi ẽfin si oju, bẹ̃li ọlẹ si ẹniti o rán a ni iṣẹ.

26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

27 Ibẹ̀ru Oluwa mu ọjọ gùn: ṣugbọn ọdun enia buburu li a o ṣẹ́ kuru.

27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28 Abá olododo ayọ̀ ni yio jasi: ṣugbọn ireti enia buburu ni yio ṣegbe.

28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

29 Ọ̀na Oluwa jẹ́ ãbò fun ẹni iduroṣinṣin, ṣugbọn egbe ni fun awọn oniṣẹ-ẹ̀ṣẹ.

29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

30 A kì yio ṣi olododo ni ipo lai; ṣugbọn enia buburu kì yio gbe ilẹ̀-aiye.

30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

31 Ẹnu olõtọ mu ọgbọ́n jade; ṣugbọn ahọn arekereke li a o ke kuro.

31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

32 Ete olododo mọ̀ ohun itẹwọgba; ṣugbọn ẹnu enia buburu nsọ̀rọ arekereke.

32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.
