1 ỌGBỌ́N ti kọ́ ile rẹ̀, o si gbẹ́ ọwọ̀n rẹ̀ meje:

1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

2 O ti pa ẹran rẹ̀; o ti ṣe àdalu ọti-waini rẹ̀; o si ti tẹ́ tabili rẹ̀.

2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.

3 O ti ran awọn ọmọbinrin rẹ̀ jade, o nke lori ibi giga ilu, pe,

3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,

4 Ẹnikẹni ti o ṣe òpe ki o yà si ihin: fun ẹniti oye kù fun, o wipe,

4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

5 Wá, jẹ ninu onjẹ mi, ki o si mu ninu ọti-waini mi ti mo dàlu.

5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.

6 Kọ̀ iwere silẹ ki o si yè; ki o si ma rìn li ọ̀na oye.

6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

7 Ẹniti o ba ba ẹlẹgàn wi, yio gba itiju fun ara rẹ̀, ati ẹniti o ba ba enia buburu wi yio gbà àbuku rẹ̀.

7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

8 Máṣe ba ẹlẹgàn wi, ki o má ba korira rẹ, ba ọlọgbọ́n enia wi, yio si ma fẹ ọ.

8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

9 Fi ẹkọ́ fun ọlọgbọ́n enia, yio si ma gbọ́n siwaju, kọ́ enia olõtọ, yio si ma fẹ ọ.

9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

10 Ibẹ̀ru Oluwa ni ipilẹṣẹ ọgbọ́n: ati ìmọ Ẹni-Mimọ́ li oye.

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

11 Nitori nipasẹ mi li ọjọ rẹ yio ma lé si i, ati ọdun ìye rẹ yio si ma lé si i.

11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

12 Bi iwọ ba gbọ́n, iwọ o gbọ́n fun ara rẹ: ṣugbọn bi iwọ ba iṣe ẹlẹgàn, iwọ nikan ni yio rù u.

12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

13 Alaroye li aṣiwere obinrin: òpe ni kò si mọ̀ nkan.

13 A foolish woman is clamourous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.

14 O sa joko li ẹnu-ọ̀na ile rẹ̀, lori apoti, ni ibi giga ilu.

14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

15 Lati ma pè awọn ti nkọja nibẹ, ti nrìn ọ̀na ganran wọn lọ: pe,

15 To call passengers who go right on their ways:

16 Ẹnikẹni ti o ba ṣe òpe, ki o yà si ìhin: ẹniti oye kù fun, o wi fun u pe,

16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

17 Omi ole dùn, ati onjẹ ikọkọ si ṣe didùn.

17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

18 Ṣugbọn on kò mọ̀ pe awọn okú wà nibẹ: ati pe awọn alapejẹ rẹ̀ wà ni isalẹ ọrun-apadi.

18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
