1 BAWO ni wura ṣe di baibai! bawo ni wura didara julọ ṣe pada! okuta ibi-mimọ́ li a tuka ni gbogbo ori ita.

1 How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.

2 Awọn ọmọ iyebiye Sioni, ti o niye lori bi wura didara, bawo li a ṣe kà wọn si bi ikoko amọ̀, iṣẹ ọwọ alamọ̀!

2 The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!

3 Ani ọ̀wawa nfà ọmu jade, nwọn nfi ọmu fun awọn ọmọ wọn: ṣugbọn ọmọbinrin awọn enia mi ti di ìka, gẹgẹ bi abo ògongo li aginju.

3 Even the sea monsters draw out the breast, they give suck to their young ones: the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.

4 Ahọn ọmọ-ọmu lẹ̀ mọ oke ẹnu rẹ̀ nitori ongbẹ: awọn ọmọ kekere mbere onjẹ, ẹnikan kò si bu u fun wọn.

4 The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread, and no man breaketh it unto them.

5 Awọn ti o ti njẹ ohun didùndidùn nkú lọ ni ita: awọn ti a ti tọ́ ninu aṣọ-òdodó, gbá ãtàn mọra.

5 They that did feed delicately are desolate in the streets: they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills.

6 Nitori aiṣedede ọmọbinrin awọn enia mi tobi jù ẹ̀ṣẹ Sodomu lọ, ti a bì ṣubu ni iṣẹju, laisi iṣiṣẹ ọwọ ninu rẹ̀.

6 For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed on her.

7 Awọn Nasire rẹ̀ mọ́ jù ẹ̀gbọn-owu, nwọn funfun jù wàra; irisi wọn pọn jù iyùn, apẹrẹ wọn dabi okuta Safire:

7 Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was of sapphire:

8 Oju wọn dudu jù ẽdu nisisiyi; a kò mọ̀ wọn ni ita: àwọ wọn lẹ mọ egungun wọn; o di gbigbẹ gẹgẹ bi igi.

8 Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick.

9 Awọn ti a fi idà pa san jù awọn ti a fi ebi pa, ti ndaku, ti a gún wọn lara nitori aisi eso-oko.

9 They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.

10 Ọwọ awọn obinrin alãnu ti sè awọn ọmọ awọn tikarawọn: awọn wọnyi li ohun jijẹ fun wọn ni igba wahala ọmọbinrin awọn enia mi.

10 The hands of the pitiful women have sodden their own children: they were their meat in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

11 Oluwa ti ṣe aṣepe irunu rẹ̀; o ti dà ibinu gbigbona rẹ̀ jade, o ti dá iná ni Sioni, ti o si ti jo ipilẹ rẹ̀ run.

11 The LORD hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof.

12 Awọn ọba aiye, ati gbogbo olugbe ilẹ-aiye, kò gbagbọ pe aninilara ati ọta iba ti wọ inu ẹnu-bode Jerusalemu.

12 The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy should have entered into the gates of Jerusalem.

13 Nitori ẹ̀ṣẹ awọn woli rẹ̀, ati aiṣedede awọn alufa rẹ̀, ti nwọn ti ta ẹ̀jẹ awọn olododo silẹ li ãrin rẹ̀.

13 For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,

14 Nwọn ti rin kiri bi afọju ni ita, nwọn di alaimọ́ fun ẹ̀jẹ tobẹ̃ ti enia kò le fi ọwọ kan aṣọ wọn.

14 They have wandered as blind men in the streets, they have polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.

15 They cried unto them, Depart ye; it is unclean; depart, depart, touch not: when they fled away and wandered, they said among the heathen, They shall no more sojourn there.

16 Oju Oluwa ti tú wọn ka: on kì o fiyesi wọn mọ: nwọn kò buyin fun awọn alufa, nwọn kò ṣãnu fun awọn àgbagba.

16 The anger of the LORD hath divided them; he will no more regard them: they respected not the persons of the priests, they favoured not the elders.

17 Bi o ṣe ti wa ni, oju wa nwọ̀na siwaju ati siwaju, fun iranlọwọ wa ti o jẹ asan: lori ile-iṣọ wa, awa nwọ̀na fun orilẹ-ède, ti kò le ràn ni lọwọ.

17 As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.

18 Nwọn dẹkun si ipa ọ̀na wa, ti awa kò le rìn ita wa: opin wa sunmọ tosi, ọjọ wa pé; nitori opin wa de.

18 They hunt our steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.

19 Awọn ti nlepa wa yara jù idì ọrun lọ: nwọn nlepa wa lori oke wọnni, nwọn bà dè wa li aginju.

19 Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.

20 Ẽmi iho imu wa, ani ẹni-ororo Oluwa, ni a mu ninu ọ̀fin wọn, niti ẹniti awa wipe, labẹ ojiji rẹ̀ li awa o ma gbé lãrin awọn orilẹ-ède.

20 The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.

21 Yọ̀, ki inu rẹ si dùn, iwọ ọmọbinrin Edomu, ti ngbe inu ilẹ Usi; sibẹ ago na yio kọja sọdọ rẹ pẹlu: iwọ o si yo bi ọ̀muti, a o si tu ọ ni ihoho.

21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.

22 A mu aiṣedede rẹ kuro, iwọ ọmọbinrin Sioni: on kì o si tun mu ọ lọ si igbekun mọ: On o bẹ̀ aiṣedede rẹ wò, iwọ ọmọbinrin Edomu; yio si fi ẹ̀ṣẹ rẹ hàn.

22 The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.
