1 ARA ọkunrin kan si ṣe alaidá, Lasaru, ara Betani, ti iṣe ilu Maria ati Marta arabinrin rẹ̀.
1 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.

4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
5 Jesu si fẹran Marta, ati arabinrin rẹ̀, ati Lasaru.
5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
7 Njẹ lẹhin eyi li o wi fun awọn ọmọ-ẹhin rẹ̀ pe, Ẹ jẹ ki a tún pada lọ si Judea.

8 His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
9 Jesu dahún pe, Wakati mejila ki mbẹ ninu ọsán kan? Bi ẹnikan ba rìn li ọsán, kì yio kọsẹ̀, nitoriti o ri imọlẹ aiye yi.
9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
10 Ṣugbọn bi ẹnikan ba rìn li oru, yio kọsẹ̀, nitoriti kò si imọlẹ ninu rẹ̀.
10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
11 Nkan wọnyi li o sọ: lẹhin eyini o si wi fun wọn pe, Lasaru ọrẹ́ wa sùn; ṣugbọn emi nlọ ki emi ki o le jí i dide ninu orun rẹ̀.
11 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
12 Nitorina awọn ọmọ-ẹhin rẹ̀ wi fun u pe, Oluwa, bi o ba ṣe pe o sùn, yio sàn.
12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
13 Ṣugbọn Jesu nsọ ti ikú rẹ̀: ṣugbọn nwọn rò pe, o nsọ ti orun sisun.
13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
14 Nigbana ni Jesu wi fun wọn gbangba pe, Lasaru kú.
14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15 Emi si yọ̀ nitori nyin, ti emi kò si nibẹ̀, Ki ẹ le gbagbọ́; ṣugbọn ẹ jẹ ki a lọ sọdọ rẹ̀.
15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
16 Nitorina Tomasi, ẹniti a npè ni Didimu, wi fun awọn ọmọ-ẹhin ẹgbẹ rẹ̀ pe, Ẹ jẹ ki awa na lọ, ki a le ba a kú pẹlu.
16 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
17 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
18 Njẹ Betani sunmọ Jerusalemu to furlongi mẹdogun:
18 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:
19 Ọ̀pọ ninu awọn Ju si wá sọdọ Marta ati Maria, lati tù wọn ninu nitori ti arakunrin wọn.
19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
20 Nitorina nigbati Marta gbọ́ pe Jesu mbọ̀ wá, o jade lọ ipade rẹ̀: ṣugbọn Maria joko ninu ile.
20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
21 Nigbana ni Marta wi fun Jesu pe, Oluwa, ibaṣepe iwọ ti wà nihin, arakunrin mi kì ba tí kú.
21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22 Ṣugbọn nisisiyi na, mo mọ̀ pe, ohunkohun ti iwọ ba bère lọwọ Ọlọrun, Ọlọrun yio fifun ọ.
22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
23 Jesu wi fun u pe, Arakunrin rẹ yio jinde.
23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Marta wi fun u pe, mo mọ̀ pe yio jinde li ajinde nigbẹhin ọjọ.
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25 Jesu wi fun u pe, Emi ni ajinde, ati ìye: ẹniti o ba gbà mi gbọ́, bi o tilẹ kú, yio yè:
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 Ẹnikẹni ti o mbẹ lãye, ti o si gbà mi gbọ́, kì yio kú lailai. Iwọ gbà eyi gbọ́?
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27 O wi fun u pe, Bẹ̃ni, Oluwa: emi gbagbọ́ pe, iwọ ni Kristi na Ọmọ Ọlọrun, ẹniti mbọ̀ wá aiye.
27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
29 Nigbati o gbọ́, o dide lọgan, o si wá sọdọ rẹ̀.
29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
30 Jesu kò sá ti iwọ̀ ilu, ṣugbọn o wà nibikanna ti Marta pade rẹ̀.
30 Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.
31 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
32 Nigbati Maria si de ibiti Jesu gbé wà, ti o si ri i, o wolẹ lẹba ẹsẹ rẹ̀, o wi fun u pe, Oluwa, ibaṣepe iwọ ti wà nihin, arakunrin mi kò ba má kú.
32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
33 Njẹ nigbati Jesu ri i, ti o nsọkun, ati awọn Ju ti o ba a wá nsọkun pẹlu rẹ̀, o kerora li ọkàn rẹ̀, inu rẹ̀ si bajẹ,
33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
34 O si wipe, Nibo li ẹnyin gbé tẹ́ ẹ si? Nwọn si wi fun u pe, Oluwa, wá wò o.
34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
35 Jesu sọkun.
35 Jesus wept.
36 Nitorina awọn Ju wipe, sa wo o bi o ti fẹràn rẹ̀ to!
36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
37 Awọn kan ninu wọn si wipe, Ọkunrin yi, ẹniti o là oju afọju, kò le ṣe ki ọkunrin yi má ku bi?
37 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
39 Jesu wipe, Ẹ gbé okuta na kuro. Marta, arabinrin ẹniti o kú na wi fun u pe, Oluwa, o ti nrùn nisisiyi: nitoripe o di ijọ mẹrin ti o ti kú.
39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
40 Jesu wi fun u pe, Emi kò ti wi fun ọ pe, bi iwọ ba gbagbọ́, iwọ o ri ogo Ọlọrun?
40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 Emi si ti mọ̀ pe, iwọ a ma gbọ́ ti emi nigbagbogbo: ṣugbọn nitori ijọ enia ti o duro yi ni mo ṣe wi i, ki nwọn ki o le gbagbọ́ pe iwọ li o rán mi.
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 Nigbati o si ti wi bẹ̃ tan, o kigbe li ohùn rara pe, Lasaru, jade wá.
43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 Ẹniti o kú na si jade wá, ti a fi aṣọ okú dì tọwọ tẹsẹ a si fi gèle dì i loju. Jesu wi fun wọn pe, Ẹ tú u, ẹ si jẹ ki o mã lọ.
44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
45 Nitorina li ọ̀pọ awọn Ju ti o wá sọdọ Maria, ti nwọn ri ohun ti Jesu ṣe, nwọn gbà a gbọ.
45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
46 Ṣugbọn awọn ẹlomiran ninu wọn tọ̀ awọn Farisi lọ, nwọn si sọ fun wọn ohun ti Jesu ṣe.
46 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.
47 Nigbana li awọn olori alufa ati awọn Farisi pè igbimọ jọ, nwọn si wipe, Kili awa nṣe? nitori ọkunrin yi nṣe ọ̀pọlọpọ iṣẹ àmi.
47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
48 Bi awa ba jọwọ rẹ̀ bẹ̃, gbogbo enia ni yio gbà a gbọ́: awọn ará Romu yio si wá gbà ilẹ ati orilẹ-ède wa pẹlu.
48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
49 Ṣugbọn Kaiafa, ọkan ninu wọn, ẹniti iṣe olori alufa li ọdún na, o wi fun wọn pe, Ẹnyin kò mọ̀ ohunkohun rara.
49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,
50 Bẹ̃ni ẹ kò si ronu pe, o ṣànfani fun wa, ki enia kan kú fun awọn enia, ki gbogbo orilẹ-ède ki o má bà ṣegbé.
50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
51 Ki iṣe fun ara rẹ̀ li o sọ eyi: ṣugbọn bi o ti jẹ olori alufa li ọdún na, o sọtẹlẹ pe, Jesu yio kú fun orilẹ-ède na:
51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
53 Nitorina lati ọjọ na lọ ni nwọn ti jọ gbìmọ pọ̀ lati pa a.
53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.
54 Nitorina Jesu kò rìn ni gbangba larin awọn Ju mọ́; ṣugbọn o ti ibẹ̀ lọ si igberiko kan ti o sunmọ aginjù, si ilu nla ti à npè ni Efraimu, nibẹ̀ li o si wà pẹlu awọn ọmọ-ẹhin rẹ̀.
54 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
55 Ajọ irekọja awọn Ju si sunmọ etile: ọ̀pọlọpọ lati igberiko wá si gòke lọ si Jerusalemu ṣiwaju irekọja, lati yà ara wọn si mimọ́.
55 And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
56 Nigbana ni nwọn nwá Jesu, nwọn si mba ara wọ́n sọ, bi nwọn ti duro ni tẹmpili, wipe, Ẹnyin ti rò o si? pe kì yio wá si ajọ?
56 Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
57 Njẹ awọn olori alufa ati awọn Farisi ti paṣẹ pe bi ẹnikan ba mọ̀ ibi ti o gbé wà, ki o fi i hàn, ki nwọn ki o le mu u.
57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.
