Read Job 31

1 EMI ti bá oju mi da majẹmu, njẹ emi o ha ṣe tẹjumọ wundia?

1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

2 Nitoripe kini ipin Ọlọrun lati ọrun wá, tabi kini ogún Olodumare lati oke ọrun wá?

2 For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high?

3 Kò ṣepe awọn enia buburu ni iparun wà fun, ati ìṣẹniṣẹ fun awọn oniṣẹ ẹ̀ṣẹ?

3 Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?

4 On kò ha ri ipa-ọ̀na mi, on kò ha si ka gbogbo iṣiṣe mi?

4 Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

5 Bi o ba ṣepe emi ba fi aiṣotitọ rìn, tabi ti ẹsẹ mi si yara si ẹ̀tan.

5 If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;

6 Ki a diwọn mi ninu iwọ̀n ododo, ki Ọlọrun le imọ̀ iduroṣinṣin mi.

6 Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.

7 Bi ẹsẹ mi ba yà kuro loju ọ̀na, ti aiya mi si tẹ̀le ipa oju mi, bi àbawọn kan ba si lẹmọ́ mi li ọwọ.

7 If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;

8 Njẹ ki emi ki o gbìn ki ẹlomiran ki o si mu u jẹ, ani ki a fà iru-ọmọ mi tu.

8 Then let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.

9 Bi aiya mi ba di fifa sipasẹ obinrin kan, tabi bi mo ba lọ ibadeni li ẹnu-ọ̀na ile aladugbo mi,

9 If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbour's door;

10 Njẹ ki aya mi ki o lọ ọlọ fun ẹlomiran, ki awọn ẹlomiran ki o tẹ̀ ara wọn li ara rẹ̀.

10 Then let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her.

11 Nitoripe ẹ̀ṣẹ buburu li eyi; ani ẹ̀ṣẹ ìṣẹniṣẹ ni lọdọ awọn onidajọ.

11 For this is an heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges.

12 Nitoripe iná ni eyi ti o jo de iparun, ti iba si fà gbongbo ohun ibisi mi gbogbo tu.

12 For it is a fire that consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.

13 Bi mo ba si ṣe aikà ọ̀ran iranṣẹkunrin mi tabi iranṣẹbinrin mi si, nigbati nwọn ba mba mi jà;

13 If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;

14 Kili emi o ha ṣe nigbati Ọlọrun ba dide; nigbati o ba si ṣe ibẹwo, ohùn kili emi o dá?

14 What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?

15 Ẹniti o dá mi ni inu kọ li o da a? ẹnikanna ki o mọ wa ni inu?

15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?

16 Bi mo ba fà ọwọ sẹhin fun ifẹ-inu talaka, tabi bi mo ba si mu oju opó mofo;

16 If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;

17 Tabi ti mo ba nikan bu òkele mi jẹ, ti alainibaba kò jẹ ninu rẹ̀;

17 Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;

18 Nitoripe lati igba ewe mi wá li a ti tọ́ ọ dàgba pẹlu mi bi ẹnipe baba, emi si nṣe itọju rẹ̀ (opó) lati inu iya mi wá.

18 (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother's womb;)

19 Bi emi ba ri olupọnju laini aṣọ, tabi talaka kan laini ibora;

19 If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;

20 Bi ẹgbẹ rẹ̀ kò ba sure fun mi, tabi bi ara rẹ̀ kò si gbona nipasẹ irun agutan mi.

20 If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;

21 Bi mo ba si gbe ọwọ mi soke si alainibaba, nitoripe mo ri iranlọwọ mi li ẹnu-bode,

21 If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:

22 Njẹ ki apá mi ki o wọ́n kuro li ọkọ́ ejika rẹ̀, ki apá mi ki o si ṣẹ́ lati egungun rẹ̀ wá.

22 Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone.

23 Nitoripe iparun lati ọdọ Ọlọrun wá ni ẹ̀ru-nla fun mi, ati nitori Ọlanla rẹ̀ emi kò le iduro.

23 For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure.

24 Bi o ba ṣepe mo fi wura ṣe igbẹkẹle mi, tabi bi mo ba wi fun wura didara pe, iwọ ni igbẹkẹle mi;

24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;

25 Bi mo ba yọ̀ nitori ọrọ̀ mi pọ̀, ati nitori ọwọ mi dẹ̀ lọpọlọpọ;

25 If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;

26 Bi mo ba bojuwo õrùn nigbati nràn, tabi òṣupa ti nrin ninu itan-imọlẹ,

26 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness;

27 Ti aiya mi si di titan, lati fi ẹnu mi kò ọwọ mi:

27 And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:

28 Eyi pẹlu li ẹ̀ṣẹ ìṣẹniṣẹ lọdọ awọn onidajọ, nitoripe emi iba sẹ́ Ọlọrun ti o wà loke.

28 This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above.

29 Bi o ba ṣepe mo yọ̀ si iparun ẹniti o korira mi, tabi bi mo ba si gbera soke, nigbati ibi bá a.

29 If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:

30 Bẹ̃li emi kò si jẹ ki ẹnu mi ki o ṣẹ̀ nipa fifẹ egún si ọkàn rẹ̀.

30 Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul.

31 Bi awọn enia inu agọ mi kò ba le wipe, Tali o le ri ẹniti agbo-ẹran rẹ̀ kò tẹlọrùn?

31 If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied.

32 Alejo kò wọ̀ ni igboro ri, emi ṣi ilẹkun mi silẹ fun èro.

32 The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveller.

33 Bi mo ba bò irekọja mi mọlẹ bi Adamu, ni pipa ẹbi mi mọ́ li aiya mi:

33 If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:

34 Ọ̀pọlọpọ enia ni mo ha bẹ̀ru bi, tabi ẹ̀gan awọn idile ni mba mi li ẹ̀ru? ti mo fi pa ẹnu mọ́, ti emi kò si fi jade sode?

34 Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, and went not out of the door?

35 Ibaṣepe ẹnikan le gbọ́ ti emi! kiyesi i, àmi mi! ki Olodumare ki o da mi lohùn! ki emi ki o si ri iwe na ti ọta mi ti kọ!

35 Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book.

36 Nitõtọ emi iba gbe e le ejika mi, emi iba si dì i bi ade mọ́ ori mi.

36 Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, and bind it as a crown to me.

37 Emi iba si sọ iye ìṣisẹ mi fun u, bi ọmọ-alade li emi iba sunmọ ọdọ rẹ̀.

37 I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.

38 Bi ilẹ mi ba si ke fi mi sùn, tabi ti aporo rẹ̀ pẹlu si sọkun,

38 If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain;

39 Bi mo ba jẹ eso oko mi lainawo si i, tabi ti mo si mu ọkàn oluwa rẹ̀ fò lọ,

39 If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life:

40 Ki ẹgun òṣuṣu ki o hù nipo alikama, ati wèpe nipo ọka-bàba. (Ọ̀rọ Jobu pari.)

40 Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.
