1 JOBU si dahùn o si wipe,

1 And Job answered and said,

2 Kò si ani-ani nibẹ̀, ṣugbọn ẹnyin li awọn enia na, ọgbọ́n yio si kú pẹlu nyin.

2 No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

3 Ṣugbọn emi ni iyè ninu gẹgẹ bi ẹnyin: emi kì iṣe ọmọ-ẹhin nyin: ani, tani kò mọ̀ nkan bi iru wọnyi?

3 But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

4 I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.

5 Ẹgan ni ẹni-òtoṣi, ti ẹsẹ rẹ̀ mura tan lati yọ́ ninu ìro ẹniti ara rọ̀.

5 He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

6 Agọ awọn igara ngberú, awọn ti o si nmu Ọlọrun binu wà lailewu, awọn ẹniti o si gbá oriṣa mu li ọwọ wọn.

6 The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.

7 Ṣugbọn nisisiyi, bi awọn ẹranko lere, nwọn o kọ́ ọ li ẹkọ́, ati ẹiyẹ oju ọrun, nwọn o si sọ fun ọ.

7 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

8 Tabi, ba ilẹ aiye sọ̀rọ, yio si kọ́ ọ, awọn ẹja inu okun yio si sọ fun ọ.

8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

9 Tani kò mọ̀ ninu gbogbo wọnyi pe, ọwọ Oluwa li o ṣe nkan yi?

9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?

10 Lọwọ ẹniti ẹmi ohun alãye gbogbo gbé wà, ati ẹmi gbogbo araiye.

10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

11 Eti ki idán ọ̀rọ wò bi? tabi adùn ẹnu ki isi tọ onjẹ rẹ̀ wò?

11 Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

12 Awọn arugbo li ọgbọ́n wà fun, ati ninu gigùn ọjọ li oye.

12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

13 Pẹlu rẹ̀ (Ọlọrun) li ọgbọ́n ati agbarà, on ni ìmọ ati oye,

13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

14 Kiyesi i, o biwó, a kò si le igbe ró mọ́, o se enia mọ́, kò si sí iṣisilẹ̀ kan.

14 Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

15 Kiyesi i, o da awọn omi duro, nwọn si gbẹ, o si rán wọn jade, nwọn si ṣẹ bo ilẹ aiye yipo.

15 Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.

16 Pẹlu rẹ̀ li agbara ati ọgbọ́n, ẹniti nṣìna ati ẹniti imu ni ṣìna tirẹ̀ ni nwọn iṣe.

16 With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

17 O mu awọn igbimọ̀ lọ nihoho, a si sọ awọn onidajọ di wère.

17 He leadeth counsellers away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.

18 O tu ide ọba, o si fi àmure gbà wọn li ọ̀ja.

18 He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

19 O mu awọn alufa lọ nihoho, o si tẹ ori awọn alagbara bá.

19 He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.

20 O mu ọ̀rọ-ẹnu ẹni-igbẹkẹle kuro, o si ra awọn àgbàgbà ni iye.

20 He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.

21 O bù ẹ̀gan lu awọn ọmọ-alade, o si tú àmure awọn alagbara.

21 He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.

22 O hudi ohun ti o sigbẹ jade lati inu òkunkun wá, o si mu ojiji ikú jade wá sinu imọlẹ̀.

22 He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.

23 On a mu orilẹ-ède bi si i, a si run wọn, on a sọ orilẹ-ède di nla, a si tun ṣẹ́ wọn kù.

23 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

24 On a gbà aiya olú awọn enia aiye, a si ma mu wọn wọ́ kakiri ninu iju nibiti ọ̀na kò si.

24 He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

25 Nwọn a ma fi ọwọ ta ilẹ ninu òkunkun laisi imọlẹ, on a si ma mu wọn tàse irin bi ọmuti.

25 They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.
