1 Ọ̀RỌ Oluwa ti o tọ̀ Jeremiah, woli wá si awọn orilẹ-ède.

1 The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Gentiles;

2 Si Egipti, si ogun Farao-Neko, ọba Egipti, ti o wà lẹba odò Ferate ni iha Karkemiṣi, ti Nebukadnessari, ọba Babeli, kọlu ni ọdun kẹrin Jehoiakimu, ọmọ Josiah, ọba Juda.

2 Against Egypt, against the army of Pharaoh-necho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah.

3 Ẹ mura apata ati asà, ẹ si sunmọ tosi si oju ìja,

3 Order ye the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle.

4 Ẹ di ẹṣin ni gãrì; ẹ gùn wọn, ẹnyin ẹlẹṣin, ẹ duro lẹsẹsẹ ninu akoro nyin; ẹ dan ọ̀kọ, ẹ wọ ẹwu irin.

4 Harness the horses; and get up, ye horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; furbish the spears, and put on the brigandines.

5 Ẽṣe ti emi ti ri wọn ni ibẹ̀ru ati ni ipẹhinda? awọn alagbara wọn li a lù bolẹ, nwọn sa, nwọn kò si wò ẹhin: ẹ̀ru yika kiri, li Oluwa wi.

5 Wherefore have I seen them dismayed and turned away back? and their mighty ones are beaten down, and are fled apace, and look not back: for fear was round about, saith the LORD.

6 Ẹni ti o yara, kì yio salọ, alagbara ọkunrin kì yio si sala: ni iha ariwa lẹba odò Ferate ni nwọn o kọsẹ̀, nwọn o si ṣubu.

6 Let not the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.

7 Tani eyi ti o goke wá bi odò, ti omi rẹ̀ nrú gẹgẹ bi odò wọnni?

7 Who is this that cometh up as a flood, whose waters are moved as the rivers?

8 Egipti dide bi odò Nile, omi rẹ̀ si nrú bi omi odò wọnni; o si wipe, Emi o goke lọ, emi o si bò ilẹ aiye, emi o si pa ilu ati awọn olugbe inu rẹ̀ run!

8 Egypt riseth up like a flood, and his waters are moved like the rivers; and he saith, I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.

9 Ẹ goke wá, ẹnyin ẹṣin, ẹ si sare kikan, ẹnyin kẹ̀kẹ; ki awọn alagbara si jade wá; awọn ara Etiopia, ati awọn ara Libia, ti o ndi asà mu; ati awọn ara Lidia ti nmu ti o nfa ọrun.

9 Come up, ye horses; and rage, ye chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.

10 Ṣugbọn ọjọ yi li ọjọ igbẹsan Oluwa, Ọlọrun awọn ọmọ-ogun, ki o le gbẹsan lara awọn ọta rẹ̀; idà yio si jẹ, yio si tẹ́ ẹ lọrun, a o si fi ẹ̀jẹ wọn mu u yo: nitori Oluwa, Ọlọrun awọn ọmọ-ogun, ni irubọ ni ilẹ ariwa lẹba odò Euferate.

10 For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

11 Goke lọ si Gileadi, ki o si mu ikunra, iwọ wundia, ọmọbinrin Egipti: li asan ni iwọ o lò ọ̀pọlọpọ õgùn; ọja-imularada kò si fun ọ.

11 Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain shalt thou use many medicines; for thou shalt not be cured.

12 Awọn orilẹ-ède ti gbọ́ itiju rẹ, igbe rẹ si ti kún ilẹ na: nitori alagbara ọkunrin ti kọsẹ lara alagbara, ati awọn mejeji si jumọ ṣubu pọ̀.

12 The nations have heard of thy shame, and thy cry hath filled the land: for the mighty man hath stumbled against the mighty, and they are fallen both together.

13 Ọ̀rọ ti Oluwa sọ fun Jeremiah, woli, nigbati Nebukadnessari, ọba Babeli wá lati kọlu ilẹ Egipti.

13 The word that the LORD spake to Jeremiah the prophet, how Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon should come and smite the land of Egypt.

14 Ẹ sọ ọ ni Egipti, ki ẹ si jẹ ki a gbọ́ ni Migdoli, ẹ si jẹ ki a gbọ́ ni Nofu ati Tafanesi: ẹ wipe, duro lẹsẹsẹ, ki o si mura, nitori idà njẹrun yi ọ kakiri.

14 Declare ye in Egypt, and publish in Migdol, and publish in Noph and in Tahpanhes: say ye, Stand fast, and prepare thee; for the sword shall devour round about thee.

15 Ẽṣe ti a fi gbá awọn akọni rẹ lọ? nwọn kò duro, nitori Oluwa le wọn.

15 Why are thy valiant men swept away? they stood not, because the LORD did drive them.

16 A sọ awọn ti o kọsẹ di pupọ, lõtọ, ẹnikini ṣubu le ori ẹnikeji: nwọn si wipe, Dide, ẹ jẹ ki a pada lọ sọdọ awọn enia wa, ati si ilẹ ti a bi wa, kuro lọwọ idá aninilara.

16 He made many to fall, yea, one fell upon another: and they said, Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our nativity, from the oppressing sword.

17 Nwọn kigbe nibẹ; Farao, ọba Egipti ti ṣegbe: on ti kọja akoko ti a dá!

17 They did cry there, Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he hath passed the time appointed.

18 Bi emi ti wà, li Ọba, ẹniti orukọ rẹ̀ ijẹ Oluwa awọn ọmọ-ogun wi, pe, nitõtọ gẹgẹ bi Tabori lãrin awọn oke, ati gẹgẹ bi Karmeli lẹba okun, bẹ̃ni on o de.

18 As I live, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, Surely as Tabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.

19 Iwọ, ọmọbinrin ti ngbe Egipti, pèse ohun-èlo ìrin-ajo fun ara rẹ: nitori Nofu yio di ahoro, a o si fi joná, laini olugbe.

19 O thou daughter dwelling in Egypt, furnish thyself to go into captivity: for Noph shall be waste and desolate without an inhabitant.

20 Ẹgbọrọ malu ti o dara pupọ ni Egipti, lõtọ, iparun de, o de lati ariwa!

20 Egypt is like a very fair heifer, but destruction cometh; it cometh out of the north.

21 Awọn ologun rẹ̀ ti a fi owo bẹ̀, dabi akọmalu abọpa lãrin rẹ̀; awọn wọnyi pẹlu yi ẹhin pada; nwọn jumọ sa lọ pọ: nwọn kò duro, nitoripe ọjọ wàhala wọn de sori wọn, àkoko ibẹwo wọn.

21 Also her hired men are in the midst of her like fatted bullocks; for they also are turned back, and are fled away together: they did not stand, because the day of their calamity was come upon them, and the time of their visitation.

22 Ohùn inu rẹ̀ yio lọ gẹgẹ bi ti ejo; nitori nwọn o lọ pẹlu agbara; pẹlu àkeke lọwọ ni nwọn tọ̀ ọ wá bi awọn akégi.

22 The voice thereof shall go like a serpent; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood.

23 Nwọn o ke igbo rẹ̀ lulẹ, li Oluwa wi, nitori ti a kò le ridi rẹ̀; nitoripe nwọn pọ̀ jù ẹlẹnga lọ, nwọn si jẹ ainiye.

23 They shall cut down her forest, saith the LORD, though it cannot be searched; because they are more than the grasshoppers, and are innumerable.

24 Oju yio tì ọmọbinrin Egipti; a o fi i le ọwọ awọn enia ariwa.

24 The daughter of Egypt shall be confounded; she shall be delivered into the hand of the people of the north.

25 Oluwa awọn ọmọ-ogun, Ọlọrun Israeli, wipe; Wò o, emi o bẹ̀ Amoni ti No, ati Farao, ati Egipti wò, pẹlu awọn ọlọla wọn, ati awọn ọba wọn; ani Farao ati gbogbo awọn ti o gbẹkẹ le e:

25 The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saith; Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him:

26 Emi o si fi wọn le ọwọ awọn ti nwá ẹmi wọn, ati le ọwọ Nebukadnessari, ọba Babeli, ati le ọwọ awọn iranṣẹ rẹ̀: lẹhin na, a o si mã gbe inu rẹ̀, gẹgẹ bi ìgba atijọ, li Oluwa wi.

26 And I will deliver them into the hand of those that seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterward it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith the LORD.

27 Ṣugbọn iwọ má bẹ̀ru, iwọ Jakobu, ọmọ-ọdọ mi, má si fòya, iwọ Israeli: nitori, wo o, emi o gbà ọ là lati okere wá, ati iru-ọmọ rẹ lati ilẹ ìgbekun wọn; Jakobu yio si pada, yio si wà ni isimi, yio si gbe jẹ, ẹnikan kì o si dẹ̀ru bà a.

27 But fear not thou, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.

28 Iwọ má bẹ̀ru, iwọ Jakobu, ọmọ-ọdọ mi, li Oluwa wi: nitori emi wà pẹlu rẹ; nitori emi o ṣe opin patapata ni gbogbo awọn orilẹ-ède, nibiti emi ti le ọ si: ṣugbọn emi kì o ṣe ọ li opin patapata, ṣugbọn emi o ba ọ wi ni ìwọn; sibẹ emi kì yio jọ̃ rẹ lọwọ li alaijiya.

28 Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.
