1 NITORI olukuluku olori alufa ti a yàn ninu awọn enia, li a fi jẹ fun awọn enia niti ohun ti iṣe ti Ọlọrun, ki o le mã mu ẹ̀bun wá ati lati ṣe ẹbọ nitori ẹ̀ṣẹ:

1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:

2 Ẹniti o le bá awọn alaimoye ati awọn ti o ti yapa kẹdun, nitori a fi ailera yi on na ká pẹlu.

2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.

3 Nitori idi eyi li o si ṣe yẹ, bi o ti nṣe ẹbọ nitori ẹ̀ṣẹ fun awọn enia, bẹ̃ pẹlu ni ki o ṣe fun ara rẹ̀.

3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.

4 Kò si si ẹniti o gbà ọlá yi fun ara rẹ̀, bikoṣe ẹniti a pè lati ọdọ Ọlọrun wá, gẹgẹ bi a ti pè Aaroni.

4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.

5 Bẹ̃ni Kristi pẹlu kò si ṣe ara rẹ̀ logo lati jẹ́ Olori Alufa; bikoṣe ẹniti o wi fun u pe, Iwọ li Ọmọ mi, loni ni mo bí ọ.

5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.

6 Bi o ti wi pẹlu nibomiran pe, Iwọ ni alufa titi lai nipa ẹsẹ Melkisedeki.

6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

7 Ẹni nigba ọjọ rẹ̀ ninu ara, ti o fi ẹkún rara ati omije gbadura, ti o si bẹ̀bẹ lọdọ ẹniti o le gbà a silẹ lọwọ ikú, a si gbohun rẹ̀ nitori ẹmi ọ̀wọ rẹ̀,

7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

8 Bi o ti jẹ Ọmọ nì, sibẹ o kọ́ igbọran nipa ohun ti o jìya;

8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

9 Bi a si ti sọ ọ di pipé, o wá di orisun igbala ainipẹkun fun gbogbo awọn ti o ngbọ́ tirẹ̀:

9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

10 Ti a yàn li Olori Alufa lati ọdọ Ọlọrun wá nipa ẹsẹ Melkisedeki.

10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

11 Niti ẹniti awa ni ohun pupọ̀ lati sọ, ti o si ṣoro lati tumọ, nitoripe ẹ yigbì ni gbigbọ́.

11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.

12 Nitori nigbati akokò tó ti o yẹ ki ẹ jẹ olukọ, ẹ tun wà ni ẹniti ẹnikan yio mã kọ́ ni ibẹrẹ ipilẹ awọn ọ̀rọ Ọlọrun; ẹ si di irú awọn ti kò le ṣe aini wàra, ti nwọn kò si fẹ onjẹ lile.

12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

13 Nitori olukuluku ẹniti nmu wàra jẹ́ alailoye ọ̀rọ ododo: nitori ọmọ-ọwọ ni.

13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

14 Ṣugbọn onjẹ lile ni fun awọn ti o dagba, awọn ẹni nipa ìriri, ti nwọn nlò ọgbọ́n wọn lati fi iyatọ sarin rere ati buburu.

14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
