1 And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.
2 And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.
3 Nigbati Paulu si ṣà ìdi iwọ́nwọ́n igi jọ, ti o si kó o sinu iná, pamọlẹ kan ti inu oru jade, o dì mọ́ ọ li ọwọ́.
3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
4 Bi awọn alaigbede na si ti ri ẹranko oloró na ti dì mọ́ ọ li ọwọ́, nwọn ba ara wọn sọ pe, Dajudaju apania li ọkunrin yi, ẹniti o yọ ninu okun tan, ṣugbọn ti ẹsan kò si jẹ ki o wà lãye.
4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
5 On si gbọ̀n ẹranko na sinu iná, ohunkohun kan kò ṣe e.
5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.
6 Ṣugbọn nwọn nwoye igbati yio wú, tabi ti yio si ṣubu lulẹ kú lojiji: nigbati nwọn wò titi, ti nwọn kò si ri nkankan ki o ṣe e, nwọn pa iyè da pe, oriṣa kan li ọkunrin yi.
6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
7 In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.
8 And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
9 Nigbati eyi si ṣe tan, awọn iyokù ti o li arùn li erekuṣu na, tọ̀ ọ wá, o si mu wọn larada:
9 So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:
10 Awọn ẹniti o bù ọlá pipọ fun wa; nigbati awa si nlọ, nwọn dì nkan gbogbo rù wa ti a ba ṣe alaini.
10 Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.
11 Ati lẹhin oṣù mẹta awa wọ̀ ọkọ Aleksandria kan, ti o lo akoko otutu li erekuṣu na, àmi eyi ti iṣe Kastoru on Poluksu.
11 And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.
12 Nigbati awa gúnlẹ ni Sirakuse, awa gbé ibẹ̀ ni ijọ mẹta.
12 And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.
13 Lati ibẹ̀ nigbati awa lọ yiká, awa de Regioni: ati lẹhin ijọ kan afẹfẹ gusù dide, ni ijọ keji rẹ̀ awa si de Puteoli,
13 And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:
14 Nibiti a gbé ri awọn arakunrin, ti nwọn si bẹ̀ wa lati ba wọn gbé ni ijọ meje: bẹ̃li awa si lọ si ìha Romu.
14 Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.
15 Ati lati ibẹ nigbati awọn arakunrin gburó wa, nwọn wá titi nwọn fi de Apii Foroni, ati Arojẹ mẹta, lati pade wa: nigbati Paulu si ri wọn, o dupẹ lọwọ Ọlọrun, o mu ọkàn le.
15 And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appiiforum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.
16 Nigbati awa si de Romu, balogun ọrún fi awọn ondè le olori ẹṣọ́ lọwọ: ṣugbọn nwọn jẹ ki Paulu ki o mã dagbe fun ara rẹ̀ pẹlu ọmọ-ogun ti ṣọ́ ọ.
16 And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.
17 O si ṣe, lẹhin ijọ mẹta, Paulu pè awọn olori Ju jọ: nigbati nwọn si pejọ, o wi fun wọn pe, Ará, biotiṣe pe emi kò ṣe ohun kan lòdi si awọn enia, tabi si iṣe awọn baba wa, sibẹ nwọn fi mi le awọn ara Romu lọwọ li ondè lati Jerusalemu wá.
17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
18 Nigbati nwọn si wádi ọ̀ran mi, nwọn fẹ jọwọ mi lọwọ lọ, nitoriti kò si ọ̀ran ikú lara mi.
18 Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.
19 Ṣugbọn nigbati awọn Ju sọ̀rọ lòdi si i, eyi sún mi lati fi ọ̀ran mi lọ Kesari; kì iṣe pe mo ni nkan lati fi orilẹ-ède mi sùn si.
19 But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.
20 Njẹ nitori ọ̀ran yi ni mo ṣe ranṣẹ pè nyin, lati ri nyin, ati lati ba nyin sọ̀rọ: nitoripe nitori ireti Israeli li a ṣe fi ẹ̀wọn yi dè mi.
20 For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
21 Nwọn si wi fun u pe, Awa kò ri iwe gbà lati Judea wá nitori rẹ, bẹ̃li ẹnikan ninu awọn arakunrin ti o ti ibẹ̀ wá kò rohin, tabi ki o sọ̀rọ ibi kan si ọ.
21 And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.
22 Ṣugbọn awa nfẹ gbọ́ li ẹnu rẹ ohun ti iwọ rò: nitori bi o ṣe ti ìsin iyapa yi ni, awa mọ̀ pe, nibigbogbo li a nsọ̀rọ lòdi si i.
22 But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.
23 Nigbati nwọn dá ọjọ fun u, ọ̀pọlọpọ wọn li o tọ̀ ọ wá ni ile àgbawọ rẹ̀; awọn ẹniti o sọ asọye ọrọ ijọba Ọlọrun fun, o nyi wọn lọkàn pada sipa ti Jesu, lati inu ofin Mose ati awọn woli wá, lati owurọ̀ titi o fi di aṣalẹ.
23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
24 Ẹlomiran si gbà ohun ti o nwi gbọ́, ẹlomiran kò si gbagbọ́.
24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.
25 Nigbati ohùn wọn kò ṣọ̀kan lãrin ara wọn, nwọn tuká, lẹhin igbati Paulu sọ̀rọ kan pe, Otitọ li Ẹmí Mimọ́ sọ lati ẹnu woli Isaiah wá fun awọn baba wa,
25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
26 Wipe, Tọ̀ awọn enia wọnyi lọ, ki o si wipe, Ni gbigbọ́ ẹnyin ó gbọ́, kì yio si yé nyin; ati ni riri ẹnyin ó ri, ẹnyin kì yio si woye:
26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
27 Nitoriti àiya awọn enia yi sebọ, etí wọn si wuwo lati fi gbọ́, oju wọn ni nwọn si ti dì: nitori ki nwọn ki o má ba fi oju wọn ri, ki nwọn ki o má ba fi etí wọn gbọ́, ati ki nwọn ki o má ba fi ọkàn wọn mọ̀, ki nwọn ki o má ba yipada, ati ki emi ki o má ba mu wọn larada.
27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
28 Njẹ ki ẹnyin ki o mọ̀ eyi pe, a rán igbala Ọlọrun si awọn Keferi, nwọn ó si gbọ́.
28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.
29 Nigbati o si ti sọ ọ̀rọ wọnyi fun wọn tan, awọn Ju lọ, nwọn ba ara wọn jiyàn pipọ.
29 And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.
30 Paulu si gbe ile àgbawọ rẹ̀ lọdun meji tọ̀tọ, o si ngbà gbogbo awọn ti o wọle tọ̀ ọ wá,
30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.
