Psalms 49
Make una hear this, everybody! Make una listen, all people for everywhere,
una wey dey great and small, rich and poor together.
My thought go dey clear; I go speak word wey get wisdom.
I go turn my attention give proverb and I go explain wetin e mean as I dey play harp.
I no dey fear when danger come when enemy dey surround me,
by evil people wey get trust in their riches and wey dey boast of their great wealth.
We no fit redeem ourselves; we no fit pay God the price for him life,
because the payment for human life dey too great. Wetin we fit pay no go ever dey enough
to keep us from grave, and to allow us live forever.
Anyone fit see say the wise dey die, and the foolish and stupid. All of them dey leave their riches to their descendants.
Na grave be their house forever; na there dem dey stay all time, though dem get their own land before.
Our greatness no fit keep us from death; we go still die like animal.
See wetin happen to those wey dey trust themselves, the fate of those wey dey satisfy their self because dem dey rich -
e dey sure say dem go die like sheep, and Death go be their shepherd. The righteous go rejoice over them, as their body dey decay quick for the world of the dead wey dey far from their house.
But God go save me; him go save me from the power of death.
No dey vex when person dey get rich, when him wealth dey grow even greater;
him no go fit take am with him when he die; him wealth no go follow him go grave.
Even if person dey okay with life and dem dey praise him because he get success,
him go still die join him ancestors, where darkness dey last forever.
Him greatness no fit stop death from him; he go still die like animal.
