Psalms 44
1 We don hear am with our own ear, O God - our ancestor don tell us about am, about all the great things wey you do for their time long ago:
2 how you yourself take drive out those wey dey worship idol and allow your people stay for their land; how you take punish other nations and you make your own prosper.
3 Your people no defeat the land with their sword; no be their power dem use win am; Na by your power and your strength, by the assurance say you dey there, wey show say you love them.
4 Na you be my God; you dey give victory to your people,
5 and na by your power we use defeat the enemy.
6 I no dey trust bow or sword make e save me;
7 but you don save us from our enemy and defeat those wey hate us.
8 We go always dey praise you and give you thanks forever.
9 But now you don reject us and you con let them defeat us; you no dey march out with our army again.
10 You con make us run from our enemy. And dem carry wetin suppose be our own.
11 You allow them kill us like sheep; you scatter us for foreign country.
12 You sell your own people for small price like say dem no get value.
13 Our neighbor dey see wetin you do us, and dem dey mock us and laugh us too.
14 You don make us be joke to other nation; dem even dey shake their head at us .
15 Na inside disgrace I dey always; shame dey always cover me
16 as I dey hear the insult and disgrace of my enemy and those wey hate me.
17 All this don happen to us, even though we never forget you or break the covenant you make with us.
18 We never dey unfaithful you; we never disobey your command.
19 But you come leave us helpless for where wild animal dey; you abandon us for darkness.
20 If to say we don stop to dey worship our God and pray to another god,
21 you for don know since , because you know wetin we dey think for secret.
22 But e dey for your hand as dem dey kill us all the time, say dem dey treat us like sheep wey dem wan kill.
23 Wake up, LORD! Why you dey sleep? Rise yourself make you no reject us forever
24 Why you dey hide from us? No forget our suffer and trouble.
25 We don fall scatter for ground; we lie for dust in defeat.
26 Come help us! Come save us because of your constant love.
