Proverbs 5

¹ My pikin, make you pay attention, and listen to my wisdom and understanding.

² Then you go know how to dey behave very well, and your words go show say you get knowledge.

³ Lips of another man wife fit dey sweet like honey and her kisses fit dey smooth like olive oil,

⁴ But when e don finish, she no go leave you anything wey pass bitterness and pain.

⁵ She go take you down to world of the dead; the road wey she dey waka na the road to death.

⁶ She no dey stay for the road to life; but she dey waka around, and she no know wetin dey happen.

⁷ My pikin, now make una listen to me, and no forget wetin I dey say.

⁸ Make una stay away from that kind woman! No even go near her door!

⁹ If una con go, na others go gain the respect wey una don get before, and una go die young for the hand of people wey no get mercy.

¹⁰ Yes, strangers go take all una wealth, and wetin una don work for go become another person own.

¹¹ At last, una go dey sad, una flesh and muscles go destroy,

¹² And una go talk say, “Why I no go ever learn? Why I no allow anybody correct me?

¹³ I no listen to my teachers. I no pay attention to them.

¹⁴ And I con see say shame don catch me for public.”

¹⁵ Make you dey faithful to your own wife and give your love to her alone.

¹⁶ Pikin wey you get by another women no go do you any good.

¹⁷ Your pikin suppose grow up to help you, no be strangers.

¹⁸ So make you dey happy with your wife and find your joy with the woman wey you marry-

¹⁹ Woman wey dey pretty and graceful like deer. Allow her charm dey keep you happy, and allow her surround you with her love.

²⁰ My pikin, why you go give your love to another woman? Why you go prefer the charm of another man wife?

²¹ God dey see everything wey you do. Anywhere you go, he dey watch.

²² Na trap the sins of the wicked be. Na the net of their own sins don catch them.

²³ Dem die because dem no get self-control. Stupid things wey dem talk go send them to their graves.
