1 ỌMỌ mi, fiyesi ọgbọ́n mi, ki o si dẹti rẹ si oye mi.
1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
2 Lati ma pa ironu mọ́, ati ki ète rẹ ki o le ma pa ìmọ mọ́.
2 That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3 Nitori ti ète awọn ajeji obinrin a ma kán bi oyin, ẹnu rẹ̀ si kunna ju ororo lọ:
3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4 Ṣugbọn igbẹhin rẹ̀ koro bi idápa, o si mú bi idà olojumeji.
4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.
5 Ẹsẹ rẹ̀ nsọkalẹ lọ sinu ikú, ìrin-ẹsẹ rẹ̀ de ipo-okú.
5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.
6 Ki iwọ má ba ja ipa-ọ̀na ìye, ipa-ọ̀na rẹ̀ a ma yi sihin yi sọhun, on kò si mọ̀.
6 Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
7 Njẹ gbọ́ temi nisisiyi, ẹnyin ọmọ, ki ẹnyin ki o máṣe yà kuro li ọ̀rọ ẹnu mi.
7 Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8 Takete kuro lọdọ rẹ̀, má si ṣe sunmọ eti ilẹkun ile rẹ̀:
8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9 Ki iwọ ki o má ba fi ọlá rẹ fun ẹlomiran, ati ọdun rẹ fun ẹni-ìka;
9 Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
10 Ki a má ba fi ọrọ̀ rẹ fun ajeji enia; ki ère-iṣẹ ọwọ rẹ ki o má ba wà ni ile alejo.
10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
11 Iwọ a si ma kãnu ni ikẹhin rẹ̀, nigbati ẹran-ara ati ara rẹ ba parun.
11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12 Iwọ a si wipe, emi ha ti korira ẹkọ́ to, ti aiya mi si gàn ìbawi:
12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13 Ti emi kò gbà ohùn awọn olukọ́ mi gbọ́, tabi ki emi dẹti mi silẹ si awọn ti nkọ́ mi.
13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
14 Emi fẹrẹ wà ninu ibi patapata larin awujọ, ati ni ijọ.
14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Mu omi lati inu kudu rẹ, ati omi ti nṣàn lati inu kanga rẹ.
15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16 Jẹ ki isun rẹ ki o ṣàn kakiri, ati awọn odò omi ni ita.
16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17 Ki nwọn ki o jẹ kiki tirẹ, ki o má ṣe ti awọn ajeji pẹlu rẹ.
17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
18 Jẹ ki orisun rẹ ki o ni ibukun: ki iwọ ki o si ma yọ̀ tiwọ ti aya ìgba-èwe rẹ.
18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
20 Ọmọ mi, ẽṣe ti iwọ o fi ma yọ̀ ninu ifẹ ajeji obinrin, ti iwọ o fi gbá aiya ajeji obinrin mọra?
20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21 Nitoripe ọ̀na enia mbẹ niwaju Oluwa, o si nṣiwọ̀n irin wọn gbogbo.
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.
22 Ẹ̀ṣẹ ẹni-buburu ni yio mu ontikararẹ̀, okùn ẹ̀ṣẹ ara rẹ̀ yio si dì i mu.
22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
23 Yio kú li aigbà ẹkọ́, ati ninu ọ̀pọlọpọ were rẹ̀ yio si ma ṣina kiri.
23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
