1 No dey envy evil people, and no try make friends with them.
2 Na to dey cause trouble be everything wey dem dey always think about; every time dem open their mouth, someone go wound.
3 Na on top foundation of wisdom and understanding dem build homes.
4 Where knowledge dey, na valuable, beautiful things dem dey use decorate the rooms.
5 To dey wise better pass to dey strong; yes, knowledge dey important pass strength.
6 After all, before you go fight a battle, you suppose don make careful plan, and the more good advice wey you get, na the more e dey possible say you go win.
7 Wise talk dey too deep for stupid to understand. Dem no get wetin dem go talk when people dey discuss important matters.
8 If you dey always plan evil, you go get position of a troublemaker.
9 Any plan wey fool think na sin. People hate person wey no get anything for others pass to dey make fun of others.
10 If you dey weak for time of trouble, that one na real weakness.
11 If you see person wey dey in danger wey fit kill am, make you something to save am.
12 You no fit talk say e no be part of your business. God know everything, and he know why you do things. He dey watch you, and he go pay you back for wetin you do.
13 My pikin, chop honey, e dey good. Just as honey dey sweet for your tongue,
14 Naso you fit dey sure say wisdom dey good for your soul. Get wisdom and you get future wey bright.
15 No be like the wicked wey plan to rob honest people or take their home away.
16 E no matter how many time honest people fall, dem dey always get up again; but na disaster dey destroy the wicked.
17 Make you no happy when your enemies don meet disaster, and make you no happy when dem fall.
18 God go know if you dey rejoice in am, and he no go like am; and he fit no punish them.
19 No allow evil people worry you; no envy them.
20 A wicked person no get future- he no get anything to dey expect in future.
21 My pikin, fear God, and honor the king. No get anything to do with the people wey go against them;
22 That kind people fit spoil a moment. Shey you know the trouble wey God or the king fit cause?
23 The wise don also talk these things: na wrong thing make judges dey do partiality.
24 If dem announce guilty person innocent, everyone go curse and hate them.
25 But judges wey punish the guilty go prosper and he go get a good name.
26 Honest answer na sign of true friendship.
27 No build your house and create your home until your fields don ready, and you dey sure say you fit earn a living.
28 No give evidence against someone else without good reason, or say things wey dey mislead about him.
29 No talk say, I go do to him exactly wetin he don do to me! I go level with him!
30 I don waka through the fields and vineyards of lazy, stupid person.
31 Na thorn bushes full am and e don overgrow with weeds. The stone wall around them don fall down.
32 I con look at this, think about am, and learn from am:
33 Sleep if you wan sleep. fold your hands and rest for a while,
34 But as you dey sleep, poverty go attack you like armed robber.
