Proverbs 13

¹ Wise pikin dey pay attention when him father dey correct him, but person wey get strong-head no dey gree say him dey do wrong.

² Good people go collect reward for wetin dem talk, but those wey person no fit trust dey only talk bad things.

³ Make you dey careful with wetin you talk and protect your life. Person wey no think before he talk dey destroy himself.

⁴ E no matter how much lazy person fit want something, he no go ever get am. Person wey work hard go get everything wey he want.

⁵ Honest people dey hate lie, but the wicked dey do evil and shameful things.

⁶ Na righteousness dey protect the innocent; wickedness na the downfall of the sinners.

⁷ Some people dey pretend to dey rich, but dem no get anything. Others pretend to dey poor, but dem get plenty.

⁸ The rich go use their money save their lives, but nobody go threaten the poor.

⁹ The light of those wey do right dey shine bright; the wicked be like lamp wey dey go dark.

¹⁰ Na trouble strong-head dey cause, but wise people dey listen to advice.

¹¹ Money wey person get from cheating others no dey last. But money wey person get through hard work go grow and grow.

¹² Hope wey dey delay dey make person sad, but a wish wey come true go fill you with joy.

¹³ If you dey refuse good advice, you dey ask for trouble; follow am and you go dey safe.

¹⁴ Teaching of wise na source of life; dem go help you when your life dey in danger.

¹⁵ People like person wey get sense, but life go dey hard for those wey person no fit trust.

¹⁶ Person wey get sense dey always think before dem do anything, but fools dey show how stupid dem be with their action.

¹⁷ Messengers wey person no fit trust dey cause trouble, but those wey person fit trust dey bring peace.

¹⁸ Person wey no learn from him mistakes go dey poor and shame go catch am. Anybody wey dey listen to correction go get honor.

¹⁹ E dey good make you get wetin you want! Stupid people no dey gree turn away from evil.

²⁰ Make friends with wise people and you go become wise. If you make friends with stupid people, you go enter trouble.

²¹ Trouble dey follow sinners everywhere dem go, but good things dey happen to good people.

²² Good people go get wealth wey dem go leave for their grandchildren, but the wealth of sinners go belong to those wey dey do right thing.

²³ Field wey dem no use fit produce plenty of food for the poor, but wicked people no allow them farm on top am.

²⁴ If you no punish your pikin, you no love him. If you love him, you go correct him.

²⁵ The righteous dey get enough wey dem fit chop, but hunger dey always wire the wicked.
