Joshua 1

¹ Moses, God servant don die. So, God talk to Joshua son of Nun, wey don be Moses assistant. God say:

² My servant Moses don die. Now, na you go lead Israel cross Jordan River enter the land wey I dey give all of una.

³ Anywhere una go, I go give una that land, as I don promise Moses.

⁴ E go be from Southern Desert take reach Lebanon Mountains for north, and to north-east take reach great Euphrates River. Hittites land go be part of am, and the land from here for Jordan River take reach Mediterranean Sea for west.

⁵ Joshua, I go always dey with you and help you as I help Moses, and nobody go fit defeat you.

⁶ Long time ago, I don promise Israel ancestors say I go give their descendants this land.

⁷ So make you dey strong and brave. Make you dey careful to do everything wey Moses my servant don teach you.

¹² Joshua tell the men of tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh say:

¹³ God servant Moses talk say, the LORD our God don give una land here for east side of Jordan River, make una dey live in peace.

¹⁴ Una wives and pikin and una animals fit stay here for the land Moses give una. But make all una wey fit serve for army carry una weapons and lead men of other tribes cross Jordan River. Dem be una relatives, so una must help them

¹⁵ Conquer the land wey God dey give them. God go give them peace as he don give una peace, then una fit come back and settle for the land wey Moses don promise una.

¹⁶ Naso the men answer say: We go cross Jordan River and help our relatives. We go fight anywhere you send us.

¹⁷ If the LORD our God go help us as he don help Moses, and if you dey strong and brave, we go obey you as we don obey Moses.

¹⁸ We go even kill anyone wey rebel against you or wey no gree obey you.
