Jeremiah 25

¹ For the fourth year wey Jehoiakim son of Josiah be king of Judah, I receive message about all people of Judah from God. {Na the year wey Nebuchadnezzar be king of Babylonia be this.

² I tell all people of Judah and Jerusalem say,

³ “For 23years, from the thirteenth year wey Josiah son of Amon be king of Judah till this day, God don speak to me, and I never fail to tell una wetin he talk. But una no pay attention.

⁴ Una no dey gree listen or pay attention, even though God don continue to dey send him servant the prophets to una.

⁵ Dem tell una make una turn from una wicked way of life and from the evil things wey una dey do, so that una fit continue to dey live for the land wey God don give una and una ancestor as una permanent possession.

⁶ Dem tell una say make una no worship and serve other gods and make una no make God vex by worshiping the idol wey una don make. If una don obey God, then he for no punish una.

⁷ But God himself talk say una no gree listen to him. Instead, una dey make him vex with una idols and una don bring him punishment on top unaself.

⁸ “So, because una no go listen to him, the LORD Almighty talk say,

⁹ ‘I go send for all the people from the north and for my servant, king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylonia. I go bring them make dem fight against Judah and the people wey dey live inside am and against all nation wey dey near am. I go destroy this nation and hin neigbour and I go destroy them for ever, e go be terrible and shocking thing to see. I, the LORD, don talk.

¹⁰ I go silent their shout of joy and gladness and happy sound of wedding party. Dem no go get oil for their lamp, and corn no go dey again.

¹¹ All this land go destroy and e go be shocking thing to see and the nations wey be their neighbour go serve king of Babylonia for seventy years.

¹² After that I go punish Babylonia and hin king for their sin, I go destroy that country and I go leave am like that for ever.

¹³ I go punish Babylonia with all disaster wey I don talk say I bring on the nation when I speak through Jeremiah- na all the disaster record dey inside this book,

¹⁴ I go pay Babylonia back for wetin them don do, and plenty nation and great kings go make them slaves.’”

¹⁵ The LORD, God of Israel tell me say, “Na wine cup be this wey dey full of my anger. Make you take am go all nation wey I send you, and make them drink from am.

¹⁶ When dem drink from am, dem go stagger and dem no go get sense again because of the war wey I dey send against them.”

¹⁷ Naso I take the cup from hand of God, give am to all nation wey God don send me, and make them drink from am.

¹⁸ Jerusalem and all town of Judah, with hin kings and leaders, drink from am, so that dem fit become desert, terrible and shocking thing to dey see, and so that people fit use their name as curse- as dem still do.

¹⁹ Na the list of all the others wey go need drink from the cup dey here: Pharaoh the king of Egypt, him official and leaders, and all people of Egypt;

²⁰ and foreigners wey dey Egypt; all kings of land of Uz; all kings of Philistine city of Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and wetin remain for Ashdod;

²¹ all people of Edom, Moab, and Ammon;

²² all kings of Tyre and Sidon; all kings of Mediterranean land;

²³ city of Dedan, Tema, and Buz; all people wey dey cut their hair short;

²⁴ all kings of Arabia; all kings of desert tribe;

²⁵ all kings of Zimri, Elam, and Media;

²⁶ all kings of north, far and near, one after another. Make every nation under the earth drink from am. Last of all, the king of Babylonia go drink from am.

²⁷ Then God tell me say, “Tell the people say I, the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, dey command dem make dem dey drink until dem don high and vomit, until dem fall down and no fit stand up, because of the war wey I dey send against them.

²⁸ And if dem no gree take the cup from your hand and drink from am, then tell them say Almighty God don talk say dem go still have to drink from am.

²⁹ I go start my work of destruction for my own city. Shey dem think say I no go punish them? No, I go punish them, because I go send war on all people on earth. I, the Almighty God, don talk.

³⁰ Jeremiah, make you announce everything wey I don say. Make you tell these people say, ‘God go shout from heaven and thunder go strike from height of heaven. He go shout against him people; he go shout like man wey dey press grape. Eveyone on earth go hear him,

³¹ And the sound go echo go end of the earth. God get a case against the nations. He go judge all the people and kill the wicked. God don speak.’”

³² Almighty God talk say disaster dey come on one nation after another, and a great storm dey gather for far ends of the earth.

³³ For that day the body of those wey God don kill go scatter for ground from one end of the earth go another. No one go cry for them, and dem no go take dem away and bury them. Dem go lie for ground like load of fertilizer.

³⁴ Make una cry, you leaders, una shepherd of my people, make una cry out loud! Make una cry and roll for dust, the time don come when I go slaughter una and I go cut una like ram.

³⁵ Way no go dey for una to escape

³⁶ Una complain and cry out in pain because God don destroy una nation

³⁷ with him anger and don destroy una peaceful country.

³⁸ God don abandon him people like lion wey leave where hin dey live. The fear of the war and terrible anger of God don turn the country to desert.
