Jeremiah 18

¹ God tell me say,

² “Go potter house, where I go give you my message.”

³ Naso I go there and I see potter dey work.

⁴ Anytime a piece of pot no dey good, he go take the clay and use am make another thing.

⁵ Then God tell me say,

⁶ “Shey I no get right to do wetin potter do with the clay with una people of Israel? Una dey my hand just like clay for potter hand.

⁷ If at any time I talk say I go uproot, breakdown, or destroy any nation or kingdom,

⁸ But then that nation con turn from hin evil, I no go do wetin I talk say I go do.

⁹ But if I talk say I go plant or build up any nation or kingdom,

¹⁰ But then that nation no gree obey me and dey do evil, I no go do wetion I talk say I go do.

¹¹ Now, tell people of Judah and Jerusalem say I dey plan against them and I dey get ready to punish them. Tell them make dem stop to dey live sinful lives - make dem change their ways and the things wey dem dey do.

¹² Dem go answer say, ‘No, why we go stop? All of us go continue dey do strong head and do evil as we like.’”

¹³ God talk say, “Ask every nation if that kind thing don ever happen before. People of Israel don do terrible thing!

¹⁴ Shey Lebanon rocky height don dey make e no get snow before? Shey the cool mountain stream don dry before?

¹⁵ Yet my people don forget me; dem dey burn incense for idol. Dem don fail in the way wey dem suppose go, dem no dey follow the old way again; dem dey waka for path wey no get mark.

¹⁶ Dem don turn this land to land of horror, wey people go hate forever. Wetin People wey dey pass go dey see go shock them; e go surprise them and dem go shake their head.

¹⁷ I go scatter my people for where their enemy dey, like dust wey east wind blow. I go turn my back on them; I no go help them when trouble come.”

¹⁸ Then the people talk say, “Make we do something about Jeremiah! Priest go always dey to instruct us, the wise wey go counsel us, and prophet wey go tell us message of God. Make we bring case against him, and make we stop to dey hear wetin him dey talk.”

¹⁹ Naso I pray say, “God, hear wetin I dey talk and hear wetin my enemy dey talk about me.

²⁰ Shey na evil be payment for good? Yet dem don dig pit for me make I fall inside. Remember how I come meet you and talk on their behalf, so that you no go deal with them in your anger.

²¹ But now, God, make hunger kill their children; make dem die for war. Make the women lose their husband and children; make disease kill the men and make the young men die for battle.

²² Send people make dem rob their home without warning; make dem cry out in great fear. Dem don dig pit for me make I fall inside and dem don set trap for me to catch me.

²³ But, God, you know all their plans to kill me. No forgive their evil and no get mercy on their sin. Deal with them when you dey vex and destroy them.”
