Jeremiah 10

¹ People of Israel, make una hear the message wey God get for una.

² He talk say, “Make una no follow the way of other nation; make abnormal things for sky no disturb una, even though say other nation dey fear.

³ These people religion na useless religion. Dem cut down tree from forest; dem carve am with tools,

⁴ And dem decorate am with silver and gold. Dem lock am down with nail so that e no go fall down.

⁵ That kind idol be like something wey people dey use scare bird for melon field; dem no fit talk; na carry dem dey carry them because dem no fit waka. Make una no fear them: dem no fit harm una, and dem no fit do una any good.”

⁶ God, no one be like you; you be mighty God, and your name na great and powerful name.

⁷ Who no go honour you, king of all nation? You deserve to get honour. No one be like you among the wise men of nation or among their kings.

⁸ All of them dey stupid and foolish. Wetin dem fit learn from idols wey dem make with wood?

⁹ Na silver cover their idol from spain and gold cover their idol from Uphaz, all na work of artist; dem dress them with violet and purple cloth and na skilled weaver do am.

¹⁰ But LORD, na you be the true God, you be the living God and you be the eternal king. The world dey shake when you dey vex; the nation no fit survive your anger.

¹¹ {Una must tell them say the god wey no make earth and sky go perish. Dem no go dey for anywhere on earth again.}

¹² Na God make the earth with him power; he create the world with him wisdom and stretch out heaven.

¹³ The water wey dey for sky dey make noise when him command; he dey bring cloud from the end of the earth. He dey make lightning to dey flash inside rain and send wind from him storeroom.

¹⁴ As people see this, dem dey feel stupid and senseless; those wey make the idols dey discouraged, because the god wey dem make na lie and e no get life.

¹⁵ Dem no get value and una suppose hate them; dem go perish when God come deal with them.

¹⁶ The God of Jacob no be like them; na him make everything, and he don choose Israel make dem be him own people. Him name na Almighty God.

¹⁷ People of Jerusalem, una dey under attack! Make una gather wetin una get together.

¹⁸ God go throw una out of this land; he go destroy una until no one of una remain. God don talk.

¹⁹ People of Jerusalem cry out say, “We dey suffer great pain! Our wound no dey heal. And we think say na something wey we fit survive!

²⁰ Our tent don destroy; the rope wey hold them don break. All our children don go away; nobody dey wey fit raise our tent again; nobody dey wey fit hang their curtain.”

²¹ I answer say, “Our leaders dey stupid; dem no ask God to guide them. Na why dem fail be this, and our people don scatter.

²² Listen! News don come! Trouble dey for the nation wey dey north; hin army go turn cities of Judah to desert, a place where fox dey live.”

²³ God, I know say nobody be master of him own destiny; no person get control over him life.

²⁴ God, correct your people; but make you no dey hard on us or punish us when you dey vex; na that go be our end.

²⁵ Turn your anger on the nation wey no worship you and on top people wey reject you. Dem don kill your people; dem don destroy us completely and destroy our country.
