Isaiah 8

¹ God tell me say, “Make you take large piece of writing material and make you write large letters on top am: ‘Quick Steal, Fast Rob.’

² Make I get two reliable men, priest Uriah and Zechariah son of Jeberechiah, make dem be witness.”

³ Some time later my wife get belle. when we con born our son the LORD tell me say, “Name him ‘Quick -steal-fast steal.’

⁴ Before the son dey call ‘Mama’ and ‘Papa’, king of Assyria go carry all the wealth of Damascus and all the goods of Samaria commot.”

⁵ God con speak to me again.

⁶ He talk say, because these people don reject quiet water from stream of Shiloah, and dey shake before king Rezin and king Pekah,

⁷ I, the LORD, go bring the emperor of Assyria and all him forces to attack Judah. Dem go push forward like flow waters of River Euphrates, wey dey overflow all hin banks.

⁸ Dem go sweep in flood through Judah, dem go raise shoulder high and cover everything.” God dey with us! Him wings wey expand dey protect the land.

⁹ Make una gather together in fear, you nations! Make una listen, you distant parts of the earth. Make una get ready to fight, make una fear! Yes, make una dey ready, but make una fear!

¹⁰ Make una get plans! But dem no go ever succeed. Make una talk as much as una like! all go dey useless, because God dey with us.

¹¹ God warn me with him great power say make I no follow the path wey people dey follow. He talk say,

¹² “Make una no join the plan of the people and make you no fear the things wey dem dey fear.

¹³ Make you remember say I, the LORD Almighty, I dey holy; I be the one wey you must fear.

¹⁴ I be the one wey people dey fall on top because of my holiness dey awesome; I dey like stone wey people dey trip over, I dey like trap wey go catch people of kingdom of Judah and Israel and people of Jerusalem.

¹⁵ Plenty go fall; dem go fall and dem go crush them. Trap go catch them.”

¹⁶ my disciple una suppose dey guard and preserve the message wey God don give me.

¹⁷ God hide himself from him people, but i trust him and I get hope in him.

¹⁸ I dey here with children wey God don give me. The Almighty God, wey him throne dey on top Mount Zion, na him send us as living message to people of Israel.

¹⁹ But people go tell una say make una ask for message from fortune teller and mediums, wey dey make noise lke bird and wisper. Dem go talk say, “After all, people suppose dey ask for message from spirit and dey consult the dead on behalf of people wey alive.”

²⁰ Make you answer them say, “Make una listen to wetin God dey teach una! Make una no listen to mediums-wetin dem dey tell una no fit keep trouble away.”

²¹ The people go dey waka through the land, dem go dey hungry and discourage. Dem go curse their king and their God in their hunger and vex. Dem fit look up to the sky
