Isaiah 53

¹ The people reply say, “Who fit believe wetin we announce now? Who fit don see hand of God in this?

² Na the will of God say make him servant grow like plant wey dey take him root from dry ground. He no get honour or beauty to make us notice him. Nothing fit attract us to him.

³ We don dislike him and reject him; he don endure suffering and pain. Nobody fit even look at him-we ignore him like say he no be anything.

⁴ “But he don endure the suffering wey suppose suffer, the pain wey we suppose bear. All this time we think say him suffering na punishment wey God send.

⁵ But na because of our sin he get wound, he receive beaten because of the evil wey we do. We don get healing because of the punishment wey he don suffer, we be complete package because of the blow wey he don receive.

⁶ All of us dey like sheep wey don lost, each of us dey go him own wey. But God make the punishment fall on top him, the punishment wey all of us suppose get.

⁷ Dem treat am badly, but e bear am; he no say a word. Like lamb wey dem wan slaughter, like sheep wey dem wan cut, he still no say a word.

⁸ Dem arrest him and sentence him to death, and nobody care about him destiny. Dem kill him because of sin of our people.

⁹ Dem put him for grave of the wicked, dem bury am with the rich, even though he never commit a crime or lie before.”

¹ God talk say, “Na my will say make he suffer, him death na sacrifice to ring forgiveness. And so he go see him descendants; he go live for long, and my purpose go dey succeed through him.

¹ After life of suffering, he go get joy again; he go know say he no suffer for nothing. My faithful servant, wey I dey happy with. E go bear punishment of plenty people and because of him I go forgive them.

¹ And so I go give am him place of honour, a place wey dey among great and powerful. Na willingly He give him life and share destiny of evil men. He take the place of plenty sinners and pray say dem get forgiveness.”
