Isaiah 44

¹ God talk say, “Make una listen now, Israel, my servant, my people wey I chose, the descendant of Jacob.

² I be the LORD wey create una; from the day wey dem born una, I don help una. Make una no fear; una be my servant, my chosen people wey I love.

³ “I go give water to land wey need water and I go make streams flow for dry ground. I go pour out my spirit on top una children and I go pour out my spirit on top una descendant.

⁴ Dem go grow like grass wey dey get enough water, like willow wey dey beside stream of running water.

⁵ “One by one, people go say, ‘I be God own’. Dem go come con join people of Israel. Each of them go mark name of God on their arms and dem go call themselves member of God people.”

⁶ God, wey dey rule and protect Israel, the LORD Almighty, get this to say; no other gods dey but me.

⁷ Shey anyone else fit do wetin I don do? Who fit don predict everything wey go happen from beginning reach end of time?

⁸ My people, make una no fear! Una know say from ancient time till now I don predict everything wey go happen, and una be my witness. Shey any other god dey? Shey any other powerful god dey wey I never hear about?”

⁹ All those wey make idols dey useless, and the gods wey dem prize high dey useless. Those wey dey worship these gods dey blind and no know anything- and shame go catch them.

¹ E no good to dey make metal images to dey worship as god!

¹ Shame go catch everybody wey worship am. The people wey make idols no be anything wey pass human being. Make dem bring their case- fear go catch them and dem go suffer shame.

¹ Metalworkers take piece of metal and dem dey work with am with fire. Him strong hand dey hold the hammer to hit the metal to shape. As he dey work, e dey hungry, thirsty and tired.

¹ The carpenter dey measure the wood. He dey mark am to show the figure with chalk, he dey use him tools to carve am out, and he make am in form of man, human image wey fine, wey him go put for him house.

¹ He fit cut cedar down to use, or he fit choose oak or cypress wood from the forest. Or he fit plant laurel-tree and he fit wait for rain to make am grow.

¹ Person dey use part of the trees for fuel and dey use part of am to dey make idol. He dey use one part to dey build fire to dey warm himself and to dey bake bread; and he dey use the other part to make god and dey worship am.

¹ He dey make fire with some of the wood; he dey roast meat, chop am, and belle full. He warm himself and talk say, “How nice and warm! What a beautiful fire!”

¹ He use the remaining wood take make idol, and then he con bow down and worship am. he pray to am and talk say, “You be my god- save me!”

¹ That kind people dey too stupid to know wetin dem dey do. Dem close their eyes and mind to the truth.

¹ The maker of the idols no get wisdom or sense to talk say, “I don burn some of the wood. I use some am make bread on top ember and I roast meet and I chop am. and I use the remaining wood take make idol. I dey here dey bow down to wood!”

² E make plenty sense like say person dey chop ashes. Him foolish idea don mislead him pass wetin person fit help you. He no go agree to himself say the idol wey he dey for hand no be god at all.

² God talk say, “Israel, make una remember this; make una remember say una be my servant. Na me create una, una be my servant and I no go ever forget una.

² I don sweep una sins away like cloud. Make una come back to me; I be the one wey dey save una.”

² Heavens make una shout for joy! Make una shout, deep places for earth! Make una shout for joy, mountains, and every trees of forest! God don show him greatness by saving him people of Israel.

² “I be the LORD, una savior; na me be one wey create una. I be the LORD, wey create all things. Na only me stretch out heavens; no one con help me, when I dey create the earth.

² I dey make fool of fortune tellers and I dey frustrate prediction of the astrologers. I dey deny the word of the wise and I show say their wisdom dey foolish.

² But when my servant predict, when I send messenger make he reveal my plans, I dey make those plan and prediction come true. I tell Jerusalem say people go live for there again, and I tell cities of Judah say dem go build am again. Those nations go rise from destruction.

² Na with word of command I take dry up the ocean.

² I tell Cyrus say, “Na you be the one wey go rule for me; you go do wetin I wan make you do: you go command Jerusalem say make them rebuild and lay the foundation of the Temple.’”
