Hosea 4

¹ God get something to bring against the people wey dey live for this land. Hear, Israel wetin he talk; faithfulness or love no dey the land, and people no appreciate me as God.

² Dem no fulfil their promises, dem dey lie, murder, steal, and dey commit adultery. Their crimes dey increase, and them dey kill anyhow.

³ And the land go dry up, and everything wey dey live for inside am go die. All the animals, birds, and fish go die.

⁴ God talk say, make anybody no get anything against the people or go rebuke dem " my complain dey against una priests.

⁵ You priests go fall for day and for night, the prophet no better pass una. I go destroy Israel, una mother.

⁶ My people don destroy as dem no sabi me. You priests no gree learn, and so I go reject una as una don forget the law of una God and I no go acknowledge una sons as my priests.

⁷ As una priests plenty for there na so una sins plenty against me, na so I go turn una honor to disgrace .

⁸ Una grow rich from sins of my people, and una want make dem dey sin dey go .

⁹ una go suffer the same punishment as the people, I go punish una and make una pay for the evil wey una don do.

¹⁰ una go eat una own share of the sacrifice but una go still dey hungry. Una go worship the fertility gods, and una no go get children, because una don leave me follow other gods.

¹¹ God talk say, Wine, both old and new no allow my people get sense.

¹² My people dey ask pieces of wood for advice! Stick dey tell them wetin dem wan know! Dem don leave me. Like woman wey turn prostitute, dem don give themselves to other gods.

¹³ Dem dey offer sacrifices on top the holy mountain and on top the hills na em dem burn incense under tall, spreading trees, because say the shade dey pleasant! And for this una daughters con serve as prostitutes, and una daughter-in-law commit adultery.

¹⁴ And I no go punish dem for this, because una too get sex with temple prostitutes, and together una offer pagan sacrifices. As proverb talk, na so people wey no get sense dey destroy their lives.

¹⁵ Even though una people of Israel no dey faithful to me, make Judah no dey guilty of the same thing. Make una no worship for Gilgal or Bethaven, or make promise for there in the name of the living God.

¹⁶ People of Israel dey stubborn like cow. How I go feed their lambs for grass land?

¹⁷ The people of Israel dey under curse of idols. Allow dem make dem go their own way.

¹⁸ After dem don drink plenty wine, dem like to dey do prostitution, dem prefer disgrace to honor.

¹⁹ Na wind go carry dem away, and shame of their pagan sacrifice go catch them.
