Haggai 1

¹ For the first day of the sixth month, God talk through prophet Haggai for the second year wey Darius be emperor for Persia. The message na for governor of Judah, Zerubbabel wey be son of Shealtiel, and the High Priest, Joshua wey be son of Jehozadak.

² Almighty God tell Haggai say, "These people say no be right time to rebuild the Temple of God be this"

³ God give this message to people through prophet Haggai:

⁴ "My people why una go dey live for better house when my own Temple don spoil?

⁵ Una no see wetin dey happen to una?

⁶ Una don plant plenty corn, but una dey harvest little. Una get food to eat but e no satisfy una. Una get wine to drink, but e no fit make una high! Una get cloth, but no reach to warm una. And workers no get money wey fit reach them.

⁷ Una no see why e dey happen?

⁸ Now make una go on top the hills, make una get timber and make una rebuild the Temple; and I go dey happy with una and una go worship me as una suppose dey worship me.

⁹ "Una dey expect plenty harvest but na small una see. And when una bring the harvest come house, I destroy am. I do am because say my Temple don spoil when all of una dey busy dey build him own house.

¹⁰ Na why rain no fall and nothing fit grow.

¹¹ I don make the land no get rain " on top hin hills, cornfields, vineyard, and olive orchard- on top all the crop wey the land produce, on top the people and animals and on top everything wey una try grow.

¹² Naso Zerubbabel and Joshua and all the people wey come from strange land for Babylonia, do wetin the LORD their God say make dem do. Dem fear and obey Haggai wey be messenger of God.

¹⁴ God tell everyone say make dem work on top the Temple: Zerubbabel wey be governor of Judah; Joshua wey be High Priest, and all the people wey don come from foreign land. Dem begin work on top the Temple of the Almighty LORD, wey be their God,
