Genesis 29

¹ Jacob continue to go towards the land of people wey dey live for east.

² As he dey go he con see a well wey dey inside field with three flocks of sheep wey dey lay for ground. Na from dis well dem dey water the flocks and dem get a big stone wey den use to cover am for up.

³ Anytime wey the flocks come together for there, the shepherds go remove the stone and water them and dem go return the stone back after den don water them.

⁴ Jacob con ask shepherd say, "My friends where you come from?" and he answered him say, "Na from Haran,"

⁵ He con ask dem again say "you know Laban the grandson of Nahor?" Dem reply him say, "Yes" we know him ,

⁶ He con ask dem, He dey ok? Dem answer "Yes he dey ok." See, na Rachel him daughter dey come with him flocks.

⁷ Jacob con say since na afternoon and time never reach for una to take flocks home, why una no water them and take them back to the field?

⁸ And dem con answer, "we no go fit do that until all the flocks gather for here and we roll the stone back, na that time we go water the flocks.

⁹ As Jacob still dey follow dem talk, Rachel come arrive with flocks because she be shepherd too.

¹⁰ When Jacob see Rachel with him uncle Laban flock, he go roll the stone wey dey on top the well and he water the sheep.

¹¹ He con kiss her and he begin to dey cry for joy.

¹² He tell her say, "I be your father relative, Rebecca son." She con run go meet her father.

¹³ When her father con hear the news of him nephew, he run go meet am, he hug am and he con kiss am and he bring am come inside house. When Jacob tell Laban everything wey don happen,

¹⁴ Laban say, "Yes na true say na my own flesh and blood you be. Jacob con stay there for a whole month.

¹⁵ Laban con tell Jacob say, "You no suppose work for me for nothing because you be my relative, how much you won make I pay you?"

¹⁶ Laban get two daughters the older one na Leah and the younger one na Rachel.

¹⁷ Leah get fine face but Rachel get good shape and she dey beautiful.

¹⁸ Jacob con fall in love with Rachel, naso he say, "I go work for you for 7 years if you allow me marry Rachel"

¹⁹ Laban con answer, "E better make I give her to you than to give another person; stay here with me."

²⁰ Jacob con work for 7 years so that him go fit get Rachel and for him, the time be like few days because he don dey in love with her.

²¹ Jacob con tell Laban say, "time don reach, allow me make I marry your daughter."

²² Na so Laban con do wedding party and him call everybody.

²³ But for that night, instead make him take Rachel, na Leah he give Jacob and Jacob con make love to her.

²⁴ Laban con give Zilpah him female slave as servant to him daughter Leah.

²⁵ Na the next morning Jacob con discover say na Leah dem give am, he go meet Laban and say, "why you do this kind thing to me? I don work so that I go get Rachel. Why you trick me?

²⁶ Laban con answer say no be our custom for here to dey give younger daughter for marriage before the elder one.

²⁷ Wait make we finish this marriage celebration and I go give you Rachel, If you go work for me for another 7 years."

²⁸ Jacob con agree and when dem finish to dey celebrate the marriage for that week, Laban con give Rachel to him as wife.

²⁹ Laban give Bilhah him slave as servant to him daughter Rachel.

³⁰ Jacob con make love to Rachel and him love am pass Leah. Na so he work for Laban for another 7 years .

³¹ When God see say Leah no dey get love reach Rachel, he con make am possible for Leah to get children but Rachel no get child.

³² Leah get belle and born son for Jacob. She con say, "God don see my trouble. Now, my husband go love me; na so she name him Reuben.

³³ She get belle again and she born another son she say, "God don give me another son because he hear say my husband no show me love; na so she name him Simeon.

³⁴ She con get belle again and she born another son, she say, "Now my husband go dey close to me, because I don born him three sons"; Na so she name him Levi.

³⁵ She con get belle again and she born another son. She name him Judah and she say, "I go praise God" she con stop to dey born pikin.
