Genesis 28

¹ Naso Isaac call Jacob, he greet him and he tell him say ,"No marry any Canaanite woman.

² Go to Mesopotamia, the home of Bethuel your grandfather, make you marry one of the young women wey dey there, one of Laban your uncle daughter.

³ Almighty God go bless your marriage and give you many children, so that you can become father of many nations. He go bless you and your descendants as he bless Abraham and you go take possession of this land wey you don live and wey God give Abraham."

⁵ Isaac con send Jacob to Mesopotamia, make he go meet Laban who be son of Bethuel and brother of Rebecca him mother. Esau con find out say Isaac don bless Jacob and he send him go find wife from Mesopotamia. He con also find out say when Isaac bless him he command him say make he no marry any Canaanite woman.

⁷ And he find out say Jacob don obey him father and mother and he don go Mesopotamia. Esau now know say him father no like Canaanite woman. Na so he go to Ishmael, son of Abraham and marry him daughter Mahalath, wey be sister of Nebaioth.

¹⁰ Jacob con leave Beersheba and he dey go towards Haran. For evening him con reach one holy place and he camp there. As him lay down to sleep and him dey rest him head on top one stone. He con dream say he see one staircase wey go from earth to heaven with angels wey dey go up and down on am. And there God dey stand beside him, he con say, "I be the Lord God of Abraham and Isaac, I go give to you and your descendants this land wey you dey now,

¹⁴ dem go plenty like dust of earth, dem go extend their territory for all direction and I go bless all nation through you and your descendants.

¹⁵ Remember say I go be with you and protect you anywhere you go and I go bring you back to this land and I no go live you until I complete everything wey I don promise you." Jacob con wake up and he say, "God dey here, he dey dis place and I no know"

¹⁷ He con dey fear and he say this place dey bring fear, na house of God he go be; he go be the gate wey lead go heaven.

¹⁸ Jacob con wake up very early next morning, he take the stone wey dey under him head and he set am up for memory. He con pour olive oil on top am to dedicate am to God.

¹⁹ He call the place Bethel. (Na Luz dem dey call the town wey dey there before)

²⁰ Jacob con make vow to God say: "If you go dey with me and protect me for dis journey wey I dey and you give me food and cloth,

²¹ and If I fit return safely to my father house, then you go be my God.

²² This memorial stone wey I don set up for here go be the place wey I go dey worship you and I go give you ten percent of everything you give me."
