Genesis 15

¹ After some time, Abram come get vision and he hear God tell him say, "Abram, no dey fear I go protect you from danger and your reward go plenty."

² Abram con answer say, "Almighty God, wetin dey good with your reward when I no get any pikin? Since you no give me any pikin, Eliezer of Damascus, servant wey dey my house na him go inherit all my wealth.

³ You no give me any descendant of my own, so one of my servants go be my heir.

⁴ God come tell am say, "No, your servant no go be your heir, you go get a son of your own, and he go be your heir."

⁵ God come take Abram outside and he tell him say, "Look up for sky and count the stars if you fit count them. Na how plenty your descendants go be be that.

⁶ Abram come believe God, and God come count am as righteous person because of him faith.

⁷ Then God tell him, na me be the God wey bring you out of Ur of Babylonia, and give you this land as your own.

⁸ But Abram reply, "Oh Great God, how I go dey sure say e go surely become my own?

⁹ God come answer him, "bring me a cow, a goat and a ram, make each if them be three years old and a dove and pigeon."

¹⁰ Abram come bring the animals to God and he cut them into half and he put the half side by side, but he no cut the birds into half.

¹¹ Some Vulture come down on the dead body of the animals but Abram chase them away.

¹² When sun come down, Abram come enter deep sleep, naso fear and terror come enter him.

¹³ God come tell him say, "Your descendants go be strangers for foreign land, and dem go be slaves there and dem go treat them bad for 400 years.

¹⁴ But I go punish the nation wey take them as slaves, and when dem leave that foreign land, dem go take great riches with them.

¹⁵ As for you, you go die in peace and dem go bury you at old age.

¹⁶ After four generations, your descendants go return here to this land.

¹⁷ When the sun don go down and everything don turn dark, one smoking fire pot wey get flame just appear and pass between pieces of animals wey dey ground.

¹⁸ Na there God make covenant with Abram say, "I promise say I go give your descendants all the land from border of Egypt take reach Euphrate river,

¹⁹ including land of the Kenites, the Kennizites, the Kadmonites.

²⁰ the Hittites, the Perrizites, the Rephaites.

²¹ the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
